I am also planning for an INFOPASS. The lady I spoke to last week said that my case is in Washington DC. How could that be? She also said that the processing date for AOS is MARCH. I do not know if i have to believe her but better to sched for an infopass.

The Washington DC Field Office is actually in Fairfax, VA. My husband is also a Virginia filer. :)

Yup! I think this is where we had our biometrics. When do you plan to have an INFOPASS?

My husband called the NCSC number and this is what they told him:

"The lady I spoke with said that in our area, they are still processing applications from March. She said we should just wait another 2 months and if we haven't heard anything by then, that we can give them a call back. She also said that unless we want really detailed info about our case, we don't need to make an infopass appointment. We can just call the phone number and get info that way."

Pretty much the same thing you were told, Supladita. So on one hand, it's a little comforting to hear that there is nothing wrong with our case, the Washington DC area is just so busy that they haven't gotten to July applications yet. On the other hand though, don't they tell EVERYONE to wait 2 months after calling before checking again? Also, I thought they encourage Infopass appointments as opposed to calling for information? Anyhow, we decided not to make an Infopass appointment at this time. I had tried to find some dates initially though, and it seems that Infopass is pretty booked up at the moment, at least in terms of "case services follow-up". The website said "At this moment, Infopass appointments are not available in your area."

Just a little something to give people a laugh, my husband also said about the call to NCSC:

"On the automated phone system part, at the end of one message, it says ... I'm paraphrasing here... 'Whoa! Okay, we bumped the cost of applications up so we got a TON of people applying before then. We're a bit behind here!'"

05/13/2008 - Interview appointment in Fairfax, VA

05/13/2008 - AOS APPROVED! Received stamp in passport

05/13/2008 - Card production ordered

05/22/2008 - Green card arrived in mail!

02/13/2010 - Will apply for removal of conditions of permanent residency

Interview was 11/29...we received green card 12/14....just a little over two weeks. Our journey is complete for now....thanks VJ and to the people that kept this thread up :thumbs:

Update for me.........

rec'd my green card on 12/10...goodie. But I have an email stating my girls have RFE!!! go figure

.........no interview for me either. I wonder if my 6 yr old twins will need one??? :unsure::wacko:

Oct 5 - NOA mailed

Oct 13 - 1st NOA received and additional letters for my daughters I filed with. NOAs stated Resident Status

has been extended for 1 year and that we will be receiving a letter for an ASC appointment for

fingerprints, photo, and signature.

Dec 2009 - Received 10 year permanent resident card.

Feb 2010 - My children received their 10 year permanent resident cards.

Oct 2010 - My children were legally adopted by my USA Citizen husband.

Our card arrived today !!!

Congrats to everyone who have heard news and/or received green cards. We were finally touched on 12/18 saying that our case was sent to the California Service Center. Not really sure if this is good news or bad news but at least it is some news after six months of no news.

Abbreviated Time Line

4/06 * Started the process with Vermont

6/06 * Get approved in US

8/06 * Found out from Embassy our package #3 is lost in the mail (one month),

Ricardo drives to Kingston to pick up duplicate (before you needed appointment to do so)

9/06 * Finally reach the embassy by phone and told- no date for interview until November

10/06 * Receive package and date for INTERVIEW November 9, 2006

11/06 * Ricardo waits too long to get police report -- we cant do our interview

12/06-1/29 *** We wait for our new interview date while the embassy moves and

re-organizes???

Messed up the 156 Got turned away at first window, no interview

Here is an update since it's been a little while. Not that many updates this time. I guess for all those who haven't received an interview date by now things are going more slowly.

Congratulations to all the approved couples.

A lot of patience and courage to the rest of us, we'll get to it in our own time.
