Had our interview on Friday 10/05/2007 in Philadelphia...had to wait about 45 minutes til we got in there..once we got in..it was easy and painless...took about 15 minutes...then we were told we were approved!...not stuck in FBI name check..told the green card would be coming in 2 weeks (not holding out any hope on that one...LOL)...Thanx to everyone with their help!

A baby and an approval over the week-end, those are good news, congratulations to the two couples.

Cecy, it'll probably work to your advantage to not be able to go until Tuesday. I would have waited if I had known I wouldn't be in the system.

On the other hand,they were very nice at the local ss office!

Well I'm in a different case, I already have a SS# (I've had it for two years from a J1 visa), so I think they only need to see the card in my case so they can change the last name. I'm going to try tomorrow.

Is it normal to get the EAD before we've had our interview?

Yup....It's normal. That is one reason (the main reason IMO) why people file for their EADs as a part of the process. Sometimes the interview and approval of AOS come quickly and the difference in time between the EAD and the green card is minimal. Other times, it's a big gap because of an application processing problem, or maybe a name check delay. The EAD is meant as a bridge to allow immigrants to work during the period their AOS is processing, so it makes since it would arrive first in most cases.

Yes, thats while people file for the EAD. The EAD is quicker to process and grants work authorization before the greencard.

Can someone check out my timeline and tell me if I am on track and if I should be expecting EAD soon?

If you read your own VJ timeline, it states the following:

"Based on timeline data, your EAD may be adjudicated as early as September 15, 2007*.

If this date has passed by more than 10 days or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline."

Since we are now into October 8th, I would say you are outside the normal limits of time for an EAD.

As far as your I-130, I cannot comment because we obtained a K-1 and did not go through that process. Your I-485 doesn't seem too long to me as you had an RFE to deal with that lengthens the time of processing, but that is only my opinion. Not really sure how to answer, but maybe someone else can help too. I just wanted to give you some feedback since you asked.

7 days to go before our AOS interview! I'm starting to feel nervous, and I'm foreseeing a lot of paperwork fussing, arrangement, rearrangement, and re-rearrangement in the days to come

BTW, has anyone heard of any news about the TB skin test? It seems that after all the big hullaballoo (due to that TB-guy), this seems to have died down... Can those of us who didn't get the TB skin test breathe easier now?

What annoys me is that some people get transfered to CSC and some dont, regardless of how busy their local office is! I dont even know whats up with my application. The typical time on VJ that people have their interview is around 70 days in Tucson, well - I've been waiting over 80 and havent even received an interview date. Someone who sent in their AOS 1 month before me has got their interview this month, and they received an RFE and took a month to send it back so I dont understand why mine is taking so long to just issue a date. I spoke to someone who said I'm just waiting on a date as Tucson is really busy at the moment - so why dont they transfer me to CSC? I just dont understand!!!
