Hya, I apologise because I was slightly confused as to where to put my info. I filed in July but had a NOA date of August, but I think July is the right place for me?

Anyhows, EAD card production yesterday...WOOHOO

It took me 3 weeks to send back the RFE information as seen in my signature so pretty good going me thinks!!!

EAD card in the mail this morning. Validity: 09/22/07 to 09/21/08

I went to the social security office today and they can't verify the validity of EAD as of right now so it'll probably take longer than 2 weeks for me to get a social security card... Maybe it's worth waiting awhile before applying, I don't know.

I received my EAD card on 24th Sept, went to get my social security number, but they didn't have me in the system, they told me they would have to get in touch with DHS, could take 4 - 6 weeks, but I received my Social Security Card today. 11 days later.

Of course our local Social Security closes at 4pm , you never know, they could miss snack time. It's just as bad as France when it comes to some administration places. And Monday is Columbus day so I'm going to have to wait to be able to officially have my married name. Oh well.

At least I found out that if I get registered at my consulate I can also ask them for a 'livret de famille' which is a little notebook that is the equivalent of a marriage license, except that you also write the birth of your children in it as well and I decided that I want it B)

Cecy, it'll probably work to your advantage to not be able to go until Tuesday. I would have waited if I had known I wouldn't be in the system.

i got my EAD Oct 03 and i immediately applied for SSN the following day. After my application the lady at the SS office gave me a piece of paper explaining everything that i may legally begin employment while waiting for the issuance of a SS card. Anyone with the same experience? Will i be able to get my SS card within a week because there is a work waiting for me and i'm very eager to start working! Thanks!

Yes. However most employers require a valid ss# before they'll hire you. I'm not trying until I have the card in hand so I don't lose any opportunities due to discrimination or just because they won't hire me until I have the card.

You probably won't get it within a week. Does your letter say they need to verify the validity of your document ? If so it'll probably be a couple weeks (or more).

If you were in the system (unlikely since you got the letter as well), then it's guaranteed you'll get the card within 14 days (likely in a week).

I was in the system and I received a letter from SSA when i went to apply for my SS#, i received my card within a week! Its standard that they give you a letter stating that you applied for a SS# on a specific date., and to make sure that they have all your details correct.
