Because you skip the interview all together and get a GC. I've read some horror stories on VJ where people wait 1-2 yrs after interview to get their green cards because they get stuck in some FBI review or something. CSC seems quicker.

Yes, but there are people who are stuck for the same amount of time at CSC. Having your AOS transferred to CSC doesn't exempt you from the FBI namecheck, you know... if you're going to get stuck in namechecks, it will happen whether you have an interview or not!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Yup... latest CSC transferee list (this isn't everyone on VJ who's been transferred to CSC... just the people who have asked to be added to that list) - see how long some of those people have been waiting... not trying to ruin anyone's excitement at being transferred to CSC, or make it sound like it's a 'bad' thing (hell, I was transferred and got approved this morning! ), just pointing out that a CSC transfer isn't some kind of 'prize' that's better than an interview (unless your local office is one with such a backlog you'd be waiting for a date forever, obviously), or an automatic passport to a super-fast approval. Most people who have interviews get their dates pretty fast, and from what I've seen, they're rarely THAT far ahead. At least if you have an interview you have a pretty good idea (FBI namecheck permitting, of course!) of when your AOS is going to be approved... and if it then turns out you're stuck in namechecks, that would have happened anyway if you'd been transferred to CSC! :)

Anyway, after that ramble... good luck to everyone, whichever route your AOS goes!

This may be a stupid question...but oh well....when checking processing times, I'm pretty sure but not positive of where my case is being processed. For instance,on the uscis site there is the option of checking times for field office, service center, and national benefits center.I live in Chicago and my receipt numbers begin with MSC,referring to the national benefits center,i assume. Which would lead me to believe that i am at the national benefits center and to check those processing times-but they don't have processing times listed for 485 or I-130.Can someone clear this up for moi? Thanks :)

I had my Biometrics appointment at the Baltimore ASC today. I arrived at 11.40 am for my 12 noon appointment. The escalator to the second floor was out of service and so they had to page a security guard to escort me in the elevator. When I arrived at the office I was the only one there! So as soon as I had filled out my form I got taken straight away for my fingerprinting and photo. It all went very smoothly and I was pleased that I could see all my information on the computer screen and the lady made me check everything was correct. When I left the office at 11.55 am there were two other people waiting. I still can't check my case online but at least I know I'm in there!

Now we wait for the interview :)

All I-485's are initially sent to MSC. Once they process, and send out the Biometrics letter, you will be forwarded either to a Local Service Center, or CSC. I believe that is the process. I had the same concern in the beginning, and someone shared that same info. with me.

Because you skip the interview all together and get a GC. I've read some horror stories on VJ where people wait 1-2 yrs after interview to get their green cards because they get stuck in some FBI review or something. CSC seems quicker.

But if your name gets stuck in FBI name check, it doesnt matter if your at CSC or have an interview.

I have been watching the timeline for the May filers, and it seems that when transferred to the CSC, they are averaging 2 1/2 months for AOS approval. I am being optimistic..... Also, you never know what type to day an interviewer is having, and what type of hoops they may ask you to jump through, if we can go the route of not having an interview, I personally would prefer that. Maybe some like the idea of having an interview, but, I prefer not to, if at all possible. Less stress. Regardless, I just want the process to go quickly, and I'll take whatever route that is.....

This is not entirely true. People get transfered to CSc, are pending there forever and then get send back to the local office and you will have an interview.

That's what happens to me right now.

There is never a garantie for anything when it comes to USCIS.
