Hey congrats! That's great news.

It's a good thing that it's happening at the Raleigh office too. Time for you to get all the papers together for it!

I'll wait till we get feedback from Jup1ter (interview today) and Supladita (interview on the 15th) to update the list.

Now I'm going to be stalking my mail box even more. Although with the last chat with an immigration officer I don't have much hope right now to be honest. I look forward to see if there is any change on the processing times this month since the Raleigh-Durham office is open and therefore they should be splitting the work load between the two offices.

It's stupid though, now I'm having doubts, thinking that I called too much and that they are withholding my application because of it. :bonk:

FINALLY!

I got home from work today and Aaron says to me "There's a letter on the bench you might've been waiting for". Just a slight understatement. :hehe::bonk:

We have our interview scheduled for June 30th at 7.45am (coincidentally, that's the date of our 1st wedding anniversary!). And the interview is at the Research Triangle Park office thank goodness!

Hurrah - at long last! :dancing:

I hope everyone still waiting gets some good news soon too ...

(Edited this post as I just checked online to see if the status had been updated there but STILL nothing online for my I-485 receipt number.)

MY HUSBAND WAS APPROVED! Oh my god, I cannot believe all the waiting is finally over.

Our appointment was for 2 pm at the DC office, which is in Fairfax, VA. We made sure to arrive by 1:30 so we could have time to park and walk in. We parked behind the building, which I almost missed because it said "metro riders parking", but it turns out anyone could park there. Make sure to bring some cash for the parking fee! We walked from the back to the front entrance, and went through the security area with metal detectors, etc. We were instructed to go up to the second floor and "check in" at the reception desk. On the second floor, the waiting room is on the left, we walked in and handed our interview notice to the receptionist. People being naturalized were asked to sit on the left side of the room and people there for adjustment of status interviews were asked to wait on the right side.

There were quite a few people there when we checked in, and we ended up waiting until 2:40 before our names were called! I was getting nervous because people who arrived after us were being called before us, and even people we had seen go into the back had already finished and come out while we were still waiting, but when I asked the receptionist about it, she said that the time just varies between interviewing officers. So make sure you have no plans for after the interview, you could potentially be waiting an hour or more before even being called to the back. But finally our name was called.

The interviewing officer was a friendly young redheaded lady, I feel bad that I cannot remember her name right now. The whole interview was very nice and relaxed, which was really comforting. Both my husband and I were expecting a spotlight interrogation or something, haha. The interview lasted about 15 minutes. The first questions involved showing our IDs, and going over basic information like each other's name and birthdates, etc. Then she asked my husband all the questions listed in the I-485 concerning things like "Are you a terrorist?" and "Are you a member of the Communist party?" etc. Then we talked about evidence of a bonafide marriage, and we showed her all sorts of items like our lease, insurance documents, bills, joint checking account info, and our whole wedding album. She was really happy that we brought the wedding album, she said the highlight of her day was getting to see people's happy moments.

After that, she stamped my husband's passport and said "I'm happy to inform you that you've been approved. This stamp will act as a temporary green card approval for up to one year. We do not produce the cards here, so I cannot tell you for sure when you will receive it in the mail, but it most likely will be within a few weeks." She also gave us a document that stated the conditions of my husband's approval, and she highlighted two very important dates on it. She explained that because we haven't been married two full years yet, we have to apply to remove the conditions of the green card between February and May 2010.

And that was it, the whole experience was definitely more relaxed than we expected, and everyone was very pleasant! Best of luck to everyone, I hope every time I check the forum, more and more people will have been approved!

Question - can the processing times actually go backward in time? Submitted the I-485 on July 23, 2007. Had our interview in December, but were not immediately approved due to a lack of vaccinations and fingerprints that needed reprocessing. Immediately squared away those two issues by the end of January... and that's where I've been sitting ever since. In mid-March of this year I called to USCIS and we looked at the processing time for I-485's in Atlanta and we had fallen outside of the 30 days previous to the current processing date at that time - they were working on cases from August 28th or so. They took down a special note to investigate the status of my wife's case and said it would take 45 days for them to look into - call in 45 days.

So I call USCIS today, to ask what the story is. They say processing times under reveiw are for I-485 applications sent July18, 2007... Sure enough that's the USCIS site says. How is it that we were beyond the date range for cases being processed six weeks ago, but today the date says they haven't even gotten to cases sent on July 23, 2007?

And they can't give any ETA of when they'll be finished looking into this.

Come June 25th I'll have been married for two years.

So the Charlotte office processing times went forward this time :D It's still behind what they announced two months ago, but non the less.

June 02 2007 is the date they announce.

I have not seen the processing times for the Raleigh-Durham office. It doesn't seem to be listed yet.

So the Charlotte office processing times went forward this time :D It's still behind what they announced two months ago, but non the less.

June 02 2007 is the date they announce.

I have not seen the processing times for the Raleigh-Durham office. It doesn't seem to be listed yet.

Oh well, at least SOMETHING is happening there!

hello every one, i am new in posting, but it`s been a while that i `m reading. i filled last july for AOS... i came in 2003

here on a VWP, to see my boyfriend for 10 days. after this short period he asked me to stay a little bit longer, it was so nice, just before my VWP ended he proposed. We stayed fiancee 3 years, the reason is that we both wanted to have our family for the wedding, his is in south america mine in europe, it was so hard to try to gather them that we finally decieded to get married in 2007 only with his mother present.

When i was in my country i lost my job (got fired), i filed for unemployment to be able to help my mother pay the rent (i was living with her ) i took 10 days vacation, knowing that i could not be able to travel if i find a job right away.

When we filed for Aos, i told the truth, i was unemployed.

i know i will get questions for that, i didn`t planed on staying here...

we recieve the interview date for june 19, i`m so scared, i`m so nervous, i don`t want to get seperated from my husband, i`m facing a 10 years ban in case we are dinied.

i just wanted to find a little support, i don`t have anybody to talk about it.

thank you.

Your husband's income is what really matters. I'm not sure if they would even count yours. My wife and I have been married for almost 5 years and we just sent the paperwork in March 2008. She has never worked during that time. They are only going by my income. Our case is moving along just fine. As long as his income can cover 125% poverty level for two people his income should be ok.

Ne t'inquiete pas.

It is a good thing that you are not employed because I'm assuming that if you come on the VWP you don't have a work permit. You already overstayed your visa it wouldn't be good if you had been working.

Now they do tend to forgive overstay when you marry a US citizen, so you should be all right.

What really matters is that you prove that your relationship is a real and honest one.

Bring pictures of the two of you in well known places (monuments and all), bring photos with family, wedding pictures, letters received in both your names at the same address from your family (or postcards), etc.

Be honest, tell the truth.

You didn't come with the intent to get married so you should be fine.

And in the event that they deny you, there are still ways to reopen your case.

They usually have you do a second interview if they have doubts, so I wouln't worry too much.

Just get prepared for it an you'll be fine.

un grand merci Cecy, and thank for every one else for the support, i`m so nervous that i cannot even sleep.

i`m just scared they will question the fact that we stayed 3 years fiancee and got married in 2007, or the fact that i was unemployed back in france (i have a copy of the letter they gave me when they fired me over there and a copy that i filed for unemployment right after)... i have my return ticket from back then.

right now i`m working i recieved my EAD last september and started to work in october. we filed our taxes jointly.

but before having my EAD i didn`t work, never tried to i was to scared to get cought.

I know i have to relax, but when you know that your life will be decieded on one interview it makes you so scared.

we have a lot of pictures together, from france, our trip to rome when he came to visit me, of course from here, we have two bank account on both name, phone bills, car insurance, credit cards...

i thought that if get denied there is no possibilities as for people who came on VWP... i don`t know i just don`t want to think about the fact that i could be deported and seperated from my husband for 10 years.

i`m just waiting for the appointment.

Be honest to them. If you love and care for each other they will see it. They are not heartless, they just want to crack down on people who abuse of the system. Tell them your story and you'll be fine.

FINALLY some good news! Went to our infopass appointment today at 9:45am. After a short wait they called us up to the window. She pulled our case to see what the hold up was and "said" the lady was just about to approve our case. Do I believe that? Not really, since it took her a bit to come back so she was probably looking for it on the desk. lol Either way she said the IO was approving the case today and we'd recieve the card in 2-3 weeks. When we got home I checked my email and sure enough there was the email we've been awaiting. I'm so glad we got answers but it bugs me to think how much longer we would have been waiting if we would have never made a infopass appointment. SO relieved not to have to pay for another work permit though!!
