I'm going to call USCIS again in the beggining of May. it will be 3 months then that I have not asked them anything. I know it won't bring anything, but in certain way it makes me feel better. Plus I still can't see my I-485 online (probably never will), so I have an excuse.

A friend online advised me to contact the senators of our State, but I wonder given that we are not out of the processing times yet if they would/could do anything.

It's really odd that both our I-485s were lodged at that same time, at the same office, neither of them are online yet and a bunch of others lodged after ours at the same office have already been processed ... though, I think you're right, nothing will be done until they're outside of the processing times. I'm actually starting to think they really WERE in the cleaning supplies cupboard ...

Called the 800 # today to see if anything changed. Of course nothing has...I mentioned the 180 day memo and the lady I was speaking to transfered me to another office I think. The man who answered tried telling me that since we were in normal processing times (which it seems we are so last month the rep who said we were out of normal processing times didn't know what she was talking about) nothing could be done since we called just last month. Well I miscounted days and thought we were past 180 days when in fact we're on 170 today. Oops. But he sent in a request stating that we were a case who fell under the new memo and said to wait for a response. Maybe something will get done this time? Who knows anymore.

Not sure if the North Carolinians following the July Filers thread heard that the new office opened in Raleigh already. Durham/RTP is a better description of the location. What luck! Only a couple of miles from where I work! You can bet I'm driving down on Monday to see what is up with our AOS petitions! I'm sure I'll get the run around, but at least I can get an infopass or something. Anybody gone down to their local office to request info? What should I do/expect? I have a feeling that this new office opening is what has caused our delay. I'd bet the cases and agents working them were boxed up and moved. All the fun stuff that goes with moving an office, especially a big office.

I called USCIS again today. (shortcut to talk to someone: press 1 for english, then 2-2-6-2-4, it really works).

The first guy who checked if i was online (of course not) talked so fast i had no idea what he said half of the time. He then transfered me to an IO.

The woman was kind of rude, telling me that in the letter they sent me that I was not supposed to call them for an other 6 months and making it plain that that was it.

She said she wasn't allowed to tell me over the phone if I cleared the FBI namecheck. I should have asked her to send me a letter about it, dang it, can't believe I didn't think about that.

So yeah, I'm under going further review. About what, go figure.

I think I'm going to get in touch with the local senators because I'm getting tired of this.

Oh also she avoided answering about the fact the the NC local office went back in their processing, saying that it didn't matter anyway because I was undergoing further review.

I don't think I'm going to call again. It's pointless and I'm tired of them being rude. Sure I had a letter that said not to call in 6 months, but what do they expect me to do? Wait to see if they forget about me? I don't think so.

First things first...

Today I went to the new USCIS Office in Raleigh/Durham. It's a nice brand new facility, and quite empty of customers! The staff was very friendly, but don't bring in your cell phone - you'll have to take it back out to your car. I didn't have an infopass or an appointment, and I was able to go straight to the window. Because I skipped over on my lunch break, I was alone and hadn't brought my wife. The infopass officer told me I had to come back with her, since she is the one adjusting status. I told her we would come back the next day. The point is that the Raleigh/Durham office is easy in/easy out, so I would recommend you stop by if you are in limboland. The officer did tell me that they had access to much more information than the phone reps, and it would most likely be a worthwhile trip. She seemed very interested in helping me.

Next....When I got home to tell my wife of the experience, she showed me her USCIS appointment letter! Looks like June 3rd in Charlotte! What a coincidence - the same day I go to the local office we get the letter we've been waiting for!

My question for Visajourney members is should we try to rebook in Raleigh and save the travel time, or just stick with Charlotte and go down June 3rd? I don't want to cause anymore delay.

Since the Raleigh office is so close, we'll probably go down there and ask them, but any replies are welcome in the meantime.

Cecy - We are no longer pending fbi namecheck...but still don't know wth is going on.

What do we do to make a infopass appt? From what I get from just trying, I clicked that we had a case filed and it gave 4 options they allow infopass...none apply us b/c we HAVE heard back on our inquiry. We just need answers as to what other processing they supposedly need now. Anyone care to shed some light here?

Pultseller: I am glad to hear that you have an appointment scheduled. I guess i could have waited a bit to update the list obviously.

It makes me feel better to hear you have one scheduled. You applied earlier than we did, but it definitely gives me some motivation. Thank you for that update.

And yes I think you should go by the Raleigh office to see if you can have it there.

Mandysbaby: True, they cleared it but still say you need further review now. I forgot about that. I'll update it next time.

Not sure for the infopass appointment, I never scheduled one. I don't want to drive 5h round trip to hear the same #######.

My husband teased me last night saying that I probably ask too many questions to USCIS (including asking if I cleared FBI namecheck) and that it made them think I'm a terrorist.

Mmh, yeah, I'm going to attack them with swear words in French!

I got my infopass as a walk in. I didn't have to make an appointment. The office is pretty quiet, so no appointments are necessary right now.

The office is within earshot of I-40 off Miami Blvd. Not sure which exit that is, but you get off the interstate and head south on Miami. First group of buildings on your left. If you get to Hwy. 54 you've gone too far. It's right behind/next to a pizza place.

FINALLY!

I got home from work today and Aaron says to me "There's a letter on the bench you might've been waiting for". Just a slight understatement.

We have our interview scheduled for June 30th at 7.45am (coincidentally, that's the date of our 1st wedding anniversary!). And the interview is at the Research Triangle Park office thank goodness!

Hurrah - at long last!

I hope everyone still waiting gets some good news soon too ...
