Yes I saw that article and was also disgusted by many of the comments left by the readers of the washington post.

It's a good idea to email this reporter as she already did some research and is aware of this problem. But nothing would cause more attention than to get this on TV news. I think we should start writing and calling everywhere. Maybe the senators and congressmen dont care much about the dozen letters they receive a month, but they certainly will care about a big media fuzz. If we can get the population aware of this situation I am certain that it would make USCIS wake the F!@#$ up!

And I thought I had it bad!

I'm really sorry to hear that some of you don't even have the NOA1 yet. This is INSANE

We should appeal to the media or something. Writing to senadors and congressmen isn't doing it. Maybe USCIS needs some pressure from the public.

A lot of americans that I talk to, think that they can marry anyone in the world and just bring them in right away... a lot of people have NO CLUE about how difficult it is to take a loved one in the country. One might think that this is a serious restriction of your freedom. Specialy to those who are not around to watch their babies grow.

Elberth,

There is another thread about a reported from the Washington Post who did a article on this whole issue and I asked peeps to email her with some stories of their own and the more peeps that did this ...just maybe....we can get some attention. The thread was under Hershey Kisses being sent to Vermont USCIS. Try to email her - if you need her email addy I can research it and send to you. Just email me from my profile.

COME ON PEEPS - waiting for a congressman/woman or Senator is like waiting for the IRS to audit you sometime in your life.... ya know it may happen it may not, but usually the answer is not good.

Cheers

Hun if this is found by the IRS would that speed it up ?

I love you Susie and miss you so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

LOL mate, would I care at this point, it can be found by Homeland Security at least I could know that they were interested!!!!!!

Honestly, by the end of this week, I am going to blog ever senator congress person that I can find in the department of justice, department of homeland security, ways and means committee whereevereeeeeeee - at least maybe some of the people here will benefit from it who knows but I will make the time to push hard for some sort of impact,

Cheers

My heart goes out to you guys who haven't even received an NOA-1 yet. I can't imagine how you are feeling. I understand the need for national security, but I can't believe how it is taking now for people who are families to be able to be together. I am already impatient and it's been only two months since I got my filing receipt in September, though I filed in July. We will just have to stick together for support.

Thanks for your kind words :luv: I feel like I have gotten more support from you guys then from my own friends and family. I lost count of all the money I've spent going to India on holidays and all the times I drove my parents up the wall because a 22 year old traveling alone to the other side of the world was not easy for them to accept. I might not spend these holidays with my hubby which makes me very very sad but it makes me feel better that I have met people who are going through similar things and im not the only one who is feeling like these delays are just insane! Im trying to be postive, its not easy at times. This summer we met up 10 days,(I had jet lag for about 3!) we got married and by the time I knew it I was here. I havent seen my hubby in almost 4 months and we might not meet until he comes over here which might take many many more months. But thanks everyone. I had to let it out sorry.

Hugs.

Well, here's the bad news. We met our 15 week deadline this week and I called USCIS and actually talked to an immigration officer because we were at our 15 week mark. He informed me that it was going to be at least 2-3 weeks more before they would get to mid-August and issue the receipt notices or NOA1s. They received our I-130 at Vermont on August 15.

Oh by the way, the operator at the 800 number won't even transfer you to an immigration officer unless you have been waiting over 12 weeks so don't waste your time. A lot of good it did for us because now we have to wait another 3 weeks.

I'm just glad we went ahead and filed our I-129f because it does appear now that they received a lot, lot more I-130s than they did for I-129f.

This is what they and I are referring to: This says 15 weeks and now they are telling me longer. I agree that this is a bunch of bull. I even tried to get him to look up any information at all using the Receipt Number from our I-129f to see if there was any notation on the files or anything noted about us filing an I-130 and he wouldn't. He said that wouldn't help that I had to wait and call back in 2-3 weeks.

Date Received in Mailroom – USCIS will honor the actual date that an application was received in our mailroom; this date will be indicated on the receipt (in the Received Date box) when Form I-797, Notice of Action, is mailed. You can see a sample Form I-797 under "Related Links" on this page. If your case is affected by the receipt delay, arrival of your receipt may take up to 12 weeks for adjustment-of-status applications and 15 weeks for naturalization and other applications.

Weekly updates on Receipting – Until this situation is resolved, USCIS will provide these weekly updates on progress in issuing receipt notices to our customers. Additional information is available in Frequently Asked Questions, located under "Related Links" on this page.

Applications Received Prior to Posted Receipting Dates – If your application was received by USCIS before the posted dates below and you still have no receipt, please contact USCIS Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-375-5283.

We appreciate your understanding.

"appreciate your understanding"? I know they don't mean it this way but it sounds really condescending. It's irritating as hell. Wait 90 days and now wait 2-3 more weeks, what next? GRRRRRR!!!

Ahhh you have a receipt number ok, I dont nor does Jen so I think in this case all bets are off. I am grateful for your post, but it will not stop me from calling and going through the motions and after that, letting them know I am not really interested in having a case sit on someone's desk right, all that I want from them and I think this is simple (and there are a few of us here in the same canoe) is a frigging receipt number anything to show the file arrived - They say thank you for understanding, well guess what - I DONT UNDERSTAND - so I need clarification as to what they are doing, and yes I understand the people are working overtime to accomodate the mass influx of immigration paperwork. But what I dont understand is why they did not think this issue out prior to raising fees and preparing for the worst case scenario - that would be in hiring a few extra bodies to help out.

They say they are hiring 1500 extra people soon, GOOD FOR THE OTHER FILERS. BAD FOR US...who the hell is going to train them when they are so short staffed and another thought I have been thinking.......if all other areas are caught up around the country such as applications except N400's, then why are the not helping out?? At least they dont have to be trained. Oh wait, they would be thinking ahead.

Cheers and sorry for the negative response to their answers, but enough is enough.

Good luck on your journey and Jen you are a godsend as you remain so calm in your post. I gotta go get some meds from my doctor - stressed out with these gits!!!!

Susie: No, I do not have a receipt number for my I-130. I have one for my I-129f which was mailed on September 18, a month after my I-130. My I-130 is still sitting here since August 15 in a pile of papers somewhere and that is what they are telling me to wait another 2-3 weeks. I have already waited 15 weeks which is more than 90 days.

Dodson,

Ok but we filed both as you can do now together. The 1-129 and the I-130 and dont have a receipt number for either.

Sorry if you misunderstood. That is my anger, I am not looking for the I-130 receipt I am just looking at the I-129 application as I know that goes faster......well it did in the past.

Cheers

I'm only calm because being angry all the time won't do any good and will probably land me in jail. ;) It doesn't surprise me that the Feds didn't think this through. I work with Medicare and they aren't any better so my shock level is relatively low. Plus I get to see my hubby in 3 weeks so that is sustaining me quite a bit right now.

Hun, why wait at least let them put a tracer on it....they did for me at the 90 day mark. At least it will give u some comfort knowing they are working and not having a coffee break. Wait sorry there, actually I think they all are working their tushes off, its the government that couldnt get it right.

I have had great conversations with both their CSR's and Immigration Officers, dont believe what I have heard, but you may be in the sytem and NOA1 just could be lost in the mail. Dont wait, call, the more the merrier.

Cheers
