:help::wacko: This is one of the final steps of my I129 packet, and I'm wondering how I should type this up. Should it be a personal account, I.E. "Well, I met bla-bla back in 2002, and I didn't know it then, but now I think it was love at first sight....." Or should it be more of a formal document, I.E. "I, (your name), met (her name) at (place) on the date of (date)." Can I get some examples of how you all wrote your declarations of how you met? Thanks everyone! Without making it too mushy....go with the more personal account mixed in with the formal. Now that really didnt help you one way or the other, did it :P:unsure:

I am but a wench not a lawyer. My advice and opinion is just that. I read, I research, I learn.

I did a combination of both. Mine was in paragraph form and I put how we first met online, then how we met in person. I then spoke briefly about trips e had both taken and how we had met each others' family. I also included a timeline to the times we had met, or vacationed together.

I kept the letter very formal, not at casual, but I still did it in letter format and like I said, I included a rough timeline with mine.

I hope this helps.

Mine was quite casual, also a letter style, about half a page...Stated how we met on-line and thought we were meant for each other, and how I went there to meet him in person and we knew we wanted to get married, how long I stayed there, where we went....

Well, I'm one that believes in just answering the question.

Mine fit in the given space on the form and went something like this:

Met whilst on business trip <DD, MM, YY> in <city, country>, at a local mall. From <DD, MM> through <DD, MM> we dated and have continued to correspond since.

While this is a formal government application, in the case of the K-1 there is a certain amount of personal feelings that come into it. Ours described the when/where/how we met, but also had a (not TOO personal) description of how the relationship developed, when we decided to marry, and how/when we have seen each other since then. They seemed to have no problem with that.

For the interview declaration we're going to do the same thing, only we'll add what has gone on since the initial I-129F submission.

I added a supplemental sheet to the I-129 and just stated how we first met on the internet and then how we met in person when I went there to visit my friend.

My fiance was informal but not mushy. He used the first person (I) and described how we met online and off. He set in dates for each trip, and got a tiny bit personal when talking about the engagement. He finished up more formal to say he was with me in graduation day in Jan ( ´cus we´re sending especific proof of that encounter as proof we met in the past 2 years).

In all the time I've spent perusing this forums, and others, as well as reading USCIS cases that have been rejected, this question has never been an issue except for the occasional RFE whereby the Petioner didn't answer the question at all.

Submit a supplemental sheet if you feel better about it but in my opinion the question is given little importance by the USCIS other than to just answer it........
