Processing time for California Service Center, please help

On January 29, 2007 I had sent my wife's (the fiancee) and my step-daughter's I-485 to the Chicago Lock Box, this was transferred to the CSC just shortly after that. My wife received notification on April 05, 2007 that she was to receive her green card. The last time that anything was done on my step-daughters account (step-daughter is now 13) was on March 03, 2007 and has not been touched since then. I just got off the phone with USCIS, they informed me that there isn't a processing time given for California in reference to my step-daughter's account and that it could be processed basically whenever.

Am I wrong in thinking that they should go by the I-485 date posted on their website? I'm sick and tired of the run around, any wonder why there are so many undocumented immigrants in the United States? I have paid a lot of good money into a system where they could care less about processing paperwork. If a civilian corporation was run in such a way they would be out of business in a days time.

2006-08-17 Date Xiang sent biographical information to the U.S. Consulate, again!

2006-08-21 Date Xiang called, faxed and mailed the U.S. Consulate the biographical information

2006-08-22 Email from the U.S. Consulate, they FINALLY received the G-325A form for our daughter!

2006-08-22 Waiting patiently for Packet #4 to arrive, bring my soulmate to my open arms!!!

2006-08-25 Packet #4 sent out from the U.S. Consulate, in transit to my baby!!!

2006-08-29 11:25pm Email from the U.S. Consulate, the interview date is October 17th!

2006-09-29 Medical examination for Xiang and our daughter Qi. Interview is just around the corner!

2006-10-16 11:15pm VISA APPROVED!!!!

2006-10-29 Xiang and Qi arrived in Detroit, immigrations 2 1/2 hours, finally holding my sweetheart in my arms.

2006-11-05 Exchanging our vows, what a beautiful day for our wedding!

I can totally understand your frustration.

Since the first experience I have had with USCIS, there has been nothing but long delays, screw-ups, misinformation, etc. and I too feel like, after paying these horrendous fees, what the heck are we paying for? And no wonder there IS so many undocumented immigrants here in the U.S.

My "timeframe" for applying for everything is in September (started with the K-1 Visa), and then the I-485, and then the I-751, and now my Naturalization. Apparently, October is a bad month for USCIS (some lottery stuff or something) and so every one of my applications has taken forever to approve, compared to others with the same applications. My K-1 Visa took 7 months to approve!!!!!!!!!!! That is absolutely ridiculous. My Removal of Conditions took 8 months to approve!!!!!!

I can only imagine how long my Naturalization will take to approve!!!! I'm sending it in in a couple of weeks.

Hope you can get your step-daughter's situation resolved soon. It is very frustrating to just sit in limbo.

Every month is a bad month for the USCIS!!!!!!

Everyone has made great points and I'm totally with you. I'm so sorry you're still waiting for your daughters Greencard Keith & Xiang, I feel for you. I hope it comes soon but I don't think that anyone can really tell you a timeframe. At the moment, timeframes from USCIS seem to be somewhere between "Whenever" and "Never".

Did you receive the receipt notice for your step-daughter? That receipt extends her legal residency for a year. The important thing is that you all are together.

You might look into doing an infopass but your current timeframe isn't unusual.

Yes, received the receipt notice, thanks. You're absolutely right about the important thing is that we're all together, I could not imagine my wife here without our daughter. As usual I believe that money talks with the USCIS and the high priority cases are the employment based applications, the ones that with a little more greenbacks get the VIP treatment.
