Past Visa Question

I am hoping someone can help me with this one. My husband - Canadian - came to the US in 1994 to attend a missionary school called YWAM. He remembers receiving a visa since his stay was from September to Febraury. (5 months). He has a memory of it being a H - something. Yet, when I look at his passport there is nothing stamped in it for this time period. We were filling out the DS-156 online for the Vancouver interview and it has a section for "Have you ever been issued a US Visa before" We were thinking of saying yes, but in the drop down menu we can't seem to find the right visa type. My husband thought it was for "missionary", but the closest is maybe an F1 - Student?? How should we answer this question since we can't remember the visa type and it's not in his passport?

There is also a Religious worker's visa which is an R-1 Visa.. Which I was issued as a youth pastor...

It might be that one; although part of the regulations for that one was a BA degree from a religious school.

My R-1 was put in my passport as a I-94 and was removed when I returned to Canada by officials (just an FYI).

I have also volunteered numerous times in the US and just went as a visitor as well..

The R-1 came up in my interview as he asked "have you ever been admitted under any other visa" and when I told him he said - "I don't care about that"..

Look under B-1 visa that one might be the one he was on...

Have you tried calling YWAM if they are still around? they probably know what type of visa Canadians need to attend.

My husband had J-1 visas every year between 1994-2002. The woman that was looking through our paperwork in Montreal wanted to see the visas. but when the hubby said that they were removed from his passport at the border, the woman seemed satisfied. During the actual interview, the hubby said that he was on a J-1 for those years and the guy moved on to the next question. no problem

Just a quick question - you are checking the correct passport? They are only valid for 5 years so a current passport would not have been the same one as back in 1994. (You're probably are, but just thought I would offer the suggestion).

Yes, I was checking the passport valid during his stay. he has a new one now. Thanks for the thought
