I use a "plugin" called MESSENGER PLUS! LIVE. You can record the entire chat session; they are stored by month (folder) and user (file). It has some other neat features. Check it out at http://www.msgpluslive.net/

Why go the hard way ???

(not to mention how Messenger Plus puts your computer at risk of receiving tonns and tonns of ####### no one in their right mind would want on their computer >> adware, trojans, spam, etc)

anyway ...

just press your ' print screen' button at the top right of your keyboard.

Then paste it into paint.

simple as that

---

and if you want to keep record of your msn history ... why not have msn log your converstaions.

That way you'll have a nice text document with the entire thing .... thats a lot easier .

Thanks. Prsc only capture one screen at time. Am I right? I had to do it more than 20 times and save each of them as a separate file. It was pain. I did save the chat as a rtf file but it doesn't look as real as the screen shot.

If you want to use it for your evidence, etc

then I would think that the transcript would do just fine.

Because emails and letters count too.

And its probably more readable as well.

I dont think they care to see which instant messenger you use,

but i could be wrong

If I am reading the question correctly, Anjing does not know how to keep the chats logged and retrieve them.

Yes, I don't know how to capture the whole screen at once. I can save it as a rtf file.

Well then Markschot is correct. I don't know of any way to capture a screen that isn't visible.....

I understand what you are saying, that the actual screen shots look more - believable - however I assume the Consulate uses email logs as very secondary evidence as they can obviously be made up or modified.

If you want to keep an ongoing archive of your conversations, follow the steps below. (These instructions are for MSN Messenger 8.1.)

Log on to MSN, Go to Tools and then Options. Highlight the "Message" link and under the "Message History" section, click "Automatically keep a history of my conversations". Then select the folder you want to save your conversations. Click Apply and then msn will record all of your msn chats by user ID. You can then print a 100 page (or more), timestamped document showing all your conversations as proof of an on-going relationship. :)

Make the chat box big enough so that everything can be copied. Push the "Print Scr" key on your keyboard. Open up MS paint or another image editing program and save the file to your computer. You don't really need any special software to do this unless you want to.

I'd like to keep it for record. Thanks.

I think you guys missed his question.

Currently he is doing a screen shot and pasting it in to a program and saving it (he mentioned a chat where he had to do 20 screen captures).

I originally thought he didn't know how to save the chat log - Marcschot read this question correctly but gave instruction on how to save the chat log as well (because I misunderstood the OP).

Marcschot has already explained how to save the chat log.

His question was how to do a screen shot of a chat, without doing 20 captures etc..

I don't think this is possible.
