Is it easier for a foreigner to obtain a visa if they own land in the USA?

I am not sure if this is the right or best place for this question, but here goes. I read an article several years ago in a magazine but I am not sure which magazine. The article was about how hard it was for people in Asia to get a visa to the US. I believe the focus of the article was on China. If I recall the article correctly, it stated that it was easier to obtain a visa if you owned land in the US. This was somewhat of a loop hole as it could just be a vacant lot as long as you had title to the land. I am curious if that still holds true and if anyone can purchase land in the US with out being a citizen.

Nobody asks for proof of citizenship when you buy land or a house, so yes, foreigners can buy land.

As to whether it would help get a visa, that would depend on the visa type. It wouldn't make a difference for a fiancee' or spousal visa (except perhaps if it were relevant to the affidavit of support). It would tend to make it HARDER to get most non-immigrant visas, because it would tend to indicate ties to the US, signaling immigrant intent. There may be some type of visa which would be easier for a landholder to get, though.

I think you may have read the story wrong. In order to get a non-immigrant visa you must prove that you have strong ties to you native land and will return there when the visa is done. Owning land in your own country is one way of proving that. If you have a large amount to lose if you abandon your country it would be more likely that you will go back.

Like what?

There was a scam some years back that involved this suggestion, my guess is that your recolecton is connected.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

There are visas out there for people willing to invest a lot of money in US business etc, but it's A LOT of money:

Not a lot, starts at $500,000.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I mentioned that the place we were renting part of was in a street of million dollar houses.

My Mum can divide by 2, came back with that's only GBP500,000.

With the way the dollar has gone, to many people it is not a lot, sell a second home and you are there.

Just a question of perspective.

More E2 which I would not touch. But this is all EB5:

I would not, too much money for the benefit from my perspective. But there are a lot of people out there to whom $500K for a GC for them and their family is small change. After all it would not buy you a one bedroom flat in much of the UK.
