I sent my wife's I-129F petition to VSC on July 31st and still have yet to receive the first NOA.

Am I being impatient?? It just seems like people usually receive them within 2-3 weeks.

I received the I-130 NOA1 within 13 days of it being sent.

Another reason I'm curious about the I-129F NOA1.

Anyone else waiting?

Thanks.

USCIS Update

August 3, 2007

USCIS ISSUES SERVICE CENTER AND LOCKBOX RECEIPTING UPDATE

WASHINGTON - USCIS announced today that it has experienced a tremendous increase in the number of applications filed, which has resulted in a front log of cases awaiting data-entry. USCIS is making every effort to address the delay.

USCIS will prioritize data entry for specific form-types. Delay in data entry and fee receipting will not affect Change of Status or Extension of Stay eligibility, assuming all other eligibility requirements are satisfied. USCIS would also like to assure its customers that requests for Premium Processing Service will continue to be processed within 15 days, consistent with existing policies and procedures.

The actual received date will be honored and recorded on the receipt notice. This date will appear in the “Received Date” box on Form I-797, Notice of Action. The received date on Form I-797 is different from the “Notice Date,” which also appears on the Notice and identifies the date the receipt notice was actually generated.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) will provide weekly updates to give our customers accurate information about current receipt times and service level commitments. As of the date of this notice, USCIS has completed data entry and has issued receipt notices for applications and petitions received on or before the following dates:

Yeah I mailed it to the same place.

I just spoke to someone at USCIS, and they said it could be up to 2 months before I receive a receipt notice!!!!

What the......!$!@$!#@$!

But they said that the petition is stamped when it was received and it will be processed according to when it was received, not from when I receive the NOA.

Makes me a bit worried! Also I was a bit scared at how nice the lady on the phone was. Seems like she was being really nice in order to make up for their slow and untimely work. hahah

I'll remain patient.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that those of us who filed in late July or early August should expect some slowdowns. You have to realize that the USCIS received a ton of applications for all sorts of visas and other petitions. When I sent my package off, the lady at the post office said that lots of people were sending in petitions to USCIS.

We just have to be patient. The way I see it is that I have done everything necessary and that it is out of my hands for the moment. There is nothing I can do to expedite things, so there is no point in stressing over it.

Peace and good luck,

CG

BTW, there is a new update at USCIS

Since it's clear they are experiencing delays "USCIS announced today that it has experienced a tremendous increase in the number of applications filed, which has resulted in a front log of cases awaiting data-entry. USCIS is making every effort to address the delay" it's clear you have nothing to worry about.

You should also know never to trust the information provided by the USCIS mis-information line.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The I-129F NOA1 actually arrived after I posted this entry. Aug. 23rd

Patience is the key I guess.
