Hi All,

My fiance's interview is on the 27th at New Delhi. Two questions that I would really appreciate your help with..

1) Is it possible for my fiance to pick up her passport after the interview, instead of waiting for the courier? This is specifically for New Delhi.

Anyone know the process or how long it may take (to pick it up)

2) While I did send my Certificate of Naturalization/Citizenship copy as part of Packet 4, I did not send photocopy of US Passport.

Is this necessary, or one of the two is sufficient.

Looking forward to your responses. Thanks again!

I was told at New Delhi that I can pick it up the next day. Unfortunately, it was Saturday and I didn't want to stay in Delhi for 3 more days so I didn't bother. With courier, It arrived within 4 days.

You should be fine with Certificate of Naturalization but would be nice if she also have a copy of your passport (Should not be required). Another thing that will do is prove that you came to India to visit her etc.

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Sandip for your quick reply! This does help.

One followup - were you told at the Embassy window where you interviewed? Where could you have picked it up, at the embassy or the VFS office?

How long do they "hold" the passport before sending it out via courier?

Thanks again - Vyom

Enbassy window where my wife was interviewed. You have to pick it up from the VFS office. I am not sure how long they hold it but you call the VFS office next day to make sure that they have it and tell them not to courier it.

As far as I know the VFS office holds it for only the day it was received, after business hours, they courier it immediately to the address on file. I think legally they are not allowed to hold the Passport unless you make a specific request.
