No problem! You'll see more BIG boxes in the baggage line than luggage!

Be sure and put a rope around them. Security normally opens them so don't tape them up to much.

They do have tape to retape also at least they did when my wife flew PAL from Manila.

It usually varies, when it comes to baggage policies. I suggest that you check it with your airline.

BTW, I m not bekypua, just want to answer your query. This is what I have been researching these days especially my POE is coming near too.

For trans-pacific flights, you are allowed two pieces of checked in luggage (or 2 balikbayan boxes) the weight of each box of which should not exceed 70 pounds or 32 kilos. You are also allowed one small carry-on. However, do check with the airline you are flying with as baggage policies do vary. Make sure you mention you are flying trans-pacific.

But 32 kilos is usually for for Business Class, right? Economy is usually 23 kilos.

Wife AND anak had 3 balikbayan boxes and 2 large suitcases. [One BIG box had my anaks BIG, BIG Teddybear in it.][Only item in the box.]Whewwwwwwww! I was sweating it out as if they wouldn't have excepted it I'd of had to buy a ticket for Jennybear!!

They flew PAL Mabuhay [business] and weren't asked to pay for additional luggage.

Peeps flying Mabuhay"may" get to have additional luggage. Not sure.

im thinking of bringing 1 balikbayan box and 2 luggage as my son's stuff will go in the box.. his so love baby truck and few stuffed toy... as box has more space than big luggage... check out balikbayan box in national bookstore.

alex be sure to check with your airline for the weight of the box. some airlines just allow 50lbs not 70lbs. take care and good luck

Wasn't easy but stuffed Jennybear into balikbayan box. Anak is 4' 4".

Security inspectors at airport blew there minds and so did all the other passengers in line!

Anak didn't like her "baby" being crushed but is happy now!

Yeah some of the visa process is fun!

The last time I flew, it was a 50lb limit for each bag. Anything over 50lbs is charged extra.
