Our interview was scheduled for 10:00am, we were almost late as the traffic was very bad this morning, so we arrived with only a few minutes to spare, a 45 mins drive turned into a 1 hour and 15 mins drive. It was a very busy place with lots of couples occupying the waiting area. We waited about fifteen minutes to be called by immigration officer, she was an older african american female. After being called we went to a small office, she asked to see appointment letter, id's and passports also asked hubby to give her the EAD card.

Then she rememerbed that we needed to stand and be sworned in. She removed I-94 from passport. Then the interview started..... how long have we been knowing each other?, how did you meet?, when did I go visit? In the mean time she was busy undoing the chart that she had with all the documents we ever submitted to immigration. Even had one of the priority mail envelopes we sent documents in. She was looking for the I485 application which she used as a check list and was stamp dating and initialing. She asked my husband to state his full name, address and phone number. She asked him to state were he was from. Did he have any children?

She asked where was I born and my date of birth. She was able to ask me specific things about my visit like how was the driving, food(she even asked which food was my favorite dish) and weather in Nigeria. She asked how many kids did I have, and there ages, and how where they adjusting to my husband. She was quite suprised that he already had a social security number and said that we moved fast. She then asked to see proof of relationship we showed a few pictures maybe about 7 or 8, some of them included a vacation that we took with family and friends in Destin Florida. She was asking about the people in the photos and where we took the pictures.

We also gave her joint bank account statement and copy of car insurance policy change that added husband as driver to policy. She proceeded to tell us specifics about the rest of the immigration process like since we were not married up to two years we would get conditional green card and we would need to appply 90 days to the expiration date of the card. She also said when we submit lifting of conditions, if we submit more documentation of proof of relationship, that we would not be required to have an interview. She told him that after approval of lifting of conditions, he was eligible to apply for citizenship in 3 years and, if he is not married to the USC he would have to wait 5 years. She said the welcome letter and green card should take 3- 6 weeks to arrive. Asked if we had any questions. She concluded interview walked with us back to waiting area door and called the next couple. The immigration officer was very friendly and the interview was laid back we were headed back to the car at exactly 10:45am. Overall AOS interview experience in Atlanta was very pleasant.

Congratulations! Hey, we are close neighbours!:-)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
