Hello all:

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but looking in the K1 VISA area it appears there are a lot of warnings about the fiancee going outside the USA. At what point can a person go on vaction outside the USA and how long after arriving to the USA does it take to get to this point? It seems very strange that even after you get married you can not go on a cruise to Bermuda...is this true?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

You can leave the US and be able to return after you get your AP papers (if you applied for them) or get the actual green card.

If you leave right after the marriage without having either one of the above documents, you will not be able to re-enter on your K-1 visa, and your AOS (if you had filed for one before you left) would be considered abandoned.

Filed AOS from F-1
Green Card approved on 01/04/07
Conditions removed 01/29/09

Citizenship Oath 08/23/12

Thanks. What is the average time to actually get the green card allowing you to vacation outside the US?

If you apply for the advance approval (allowing outside travel) it is 90 days... for a greencard.. your guess is as good as anyones.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline
