I want to know how long it takes the NVC to complete case processing after they have both the I-864 and the DS-230 part 1. Also, do they mail the case to the embassy immediately after? How long does the case take to arrive at the embassy? Thank you for your help.

It took less than two weeks for my case to be completed. Looking at other timelines the time range from 2-4 weeks. Once your case is completed there are several options depending on the type of visa you are seeking and the country your SO is from. The answer change with each option. I am filing for IR1/CR1 and my spouse is Jamaican. The NVC now schedules interviews for the Kingston Jamaica Emassy prior to forwarding cases for IR1/CR1 visa to the Embassy in Jamaica. It took a little under 2 months for my interview to be scheduled and it was scheduled for Sep 27. The time between the case being completed and my actual interview date was right at 3 months minus 2 days.

To get the best answer for your situation; I would update the info about what type of visa you are seeking and the country of your spouse/fiance.

Thanks Jenice, for your very detailed response. Best of luck on the 27th!

My husband is in Pakistan, and we're seeking a CR1. The automated response system told me that his case was completed yesterday and to await instruction within the next 8 weeks. Will they mail out the case to Pakistan now or AFTER 8 weeks? I'm pretty sure the interview is scheduled by the embassy in Pakistan. Can anyone at the same point in their applications tell me what to expect from this point on?

Thanks a lot!

I recently got my case completed as well and from what I have been reading in these forums, it *should* be sent soon (within a few weeks I guess) and then received by the overseas embassy/consulate within 2 to 4 weeks. They list an 8 week window just to play safe.

So if your alien spouse does not receive news from the overseas embassy within 8 weeks from the case complete date, then notify them.

Good luck and congrats on your case complete!
