sorry should have been in the subject line:

this is mainly about the so-called "Rapid adjustment" DORA, etc programs

I just sent this to the website administrator:

Hi - first of all, just wanted to thank you for the wonderful site with so much great information.

I did want to point out some confusion that we ran into (mainly due to conflicting information on USCIS website, forms, and what the USCIS officers say in-person)

Some extra notes need to be made about the "rapid adjustment" programs, as they seem to differ in many aspects from the normal filing procedures.

1. link to DORA program information on USCIS site is broken (not surprising since USCIS site is often broken itself)

2. DORA (or other "rapid adjustment" office procedures) should bring Money Order or Cashiers Check to their filing appointment (not personal check as the I-485 seems to allow)

3. for "rapid adjustment" folks: the Infopass appointment to file for AOS is also the "interview" appointment on the same visit.

People should be prepared (bring evidence) to show a "genuine relationship (living together)" exists (photos of wedding, photos of honeymoon, mail addressed to both at same residence, etc)

4. the Infopass appointment letter says all of the above items on it, but it's not so clear that the infopass letter is actually overriding (and conflicting) other USCIS forms and instructions.

5. the officer at the DORA filing window at USCIS said the EAD application was usually unnecessary as it takes 60-90 days to process EAD, and it might only take 90 days to get AOS approval back (making it a waste of money on the EAD filing fee). Perhaps a suggestion to put the fees on seperate Money orders/cashiers checks, so that the decision can be made at the counter)

Just wanted to clarify this since several offices (OKC, Dallas, Houston, etc) are moving to the rapid adjustment.

Another idea,

perhaps setting up a "sub-faq" (or alt-faq) for K-1 AOS that are filing via the "rapid adjustment" route, particularly since they seem to have some varying and conflicting procedures.

-Jens

Nice post, thanks for sharing. I had heard that some of the Texas offices were being used a pilots for DORA but haven't heard about other offices. Maybe others will share.
