Yeah, I liked the idea that it has ocean view rooms. I'm a sucker for a view of the ocean, seeing as I live hundreds of miles from one. :D

I know I'm late on this topic, but in Osu there is a big blue building that was built during the time I was there. It's new, and it's clean. I can't remember the name of it, but it was around the same price as Frankie's. The place I always stayed at was right next to Papaye's, but it is probably a little less than what you are looking for. It was $20 a night. There is a big hotel around 37 that is called Golden Tulip. It'll be more around the $200 a night, but it's really nice. Also Labadi Beach Hotel is very nice. La Palm is also beautiful. Beautiful pool and view of the ocean. This shows pictures of the big ones: http://www.southtravels.com/africa/ghana/d...ions.html#accra

Good Luck!

Does anyone who has traveled to Ghana or who lives in Ghana have any recommendations for a nice, CLEAN hotel in the Accra area? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I also am very slow to respond and greatly appreciate the question as I'm travelling at the end of the month and we want a weekend at the beach.

Queen Jenn, my last trip I stayed at a nice, $20/night place in the Adabraka neighborhood of Accra. The staff was great, 15 minutes from the airport and I walked downtown and to the ocean (though I am a New Yorker/Bostonian and walking a distance doesn't phase me). The name escapes me, but let me know if you want the name and I'll post it the moment I find it.

Hey, better late than never. I'm interested in ALL places people have stayed that are nice. The most important part is that they are clean as my mom is SUPER picky about cleanliness and she's going with me.

I know that this is an old thread, but now I am the one in need of hotel suggestions. My husband and I will be travelling through Ghana at the end of this month and we will need a hotel/guesthouse in the airport vicinity. Our flight from Ghana to Liberia leaves in the morning hours and I want to make sure we get to the airport on time. I know Accra traffic can be a mess and I want to avoid any delays.

I'm hoping to pay $50 and under for a clean place near Kotoka airport. Zee, I saw you mention Penwood Hotel. How many mins is it from the airport?

Also, I would like to get my hair braided while I am there, too. Does anyone know of any hair braiders near the airport area?

About 20 minutes. They have a van that will transport you to the airport (no idea how much it costs).
