I still wonder why they don't sent me an interview date. It's almost 3 month ago we filed the AOS.

My biometric is taken.

Would this has something to do with that they will transfer me to CSC?

Very unlikely i will be transfered to CSC anyways, i'm eligible for the 10 year GC now as i've been married 2 years!! so i'm thinking that more than likely i'll be scheduled for an interview at some point in the future. No idea when though....i'm guessing my local office is busy or i probably would have heard something already!

Where's this 'memo'?

Found this in the USCIS website.

That's from Dec 05/Jan 06 - surely there's something newer?

I'm curious too to see what it says.

That is the memo. Good on eau explain for locating it.

There have been no further comments since because....apparently they don't feel they need to comment!

You will note in the upper right hand corner of the press release a 'revised date'. The original memo is what I have at home. There are some minor differences in verbage between the two PR's. If my recollection serves me, the differences, though minor, were somewhat pertinent. I don't even remember how I lucked upon the original PR but it's on my old computer at home, which at the moment IS NOT SET UP -- hence my delay in getting back into this thread.

If one of you has some google time on your hands, maybe you can uncover the original memo. I'm at work and can't spend that much time on it.

I would bet they use the same criteria as TSA in the airports, it is completely random and based on percentages. Unless you have some red flag on your name related to fraud or terrorism it is probably nothing more than % required to interview.

We have to remember also that VJ is a very small % of people in the immigration process and we probably fall under a smaller percent group that is self motivated to go through the process well informed and self petitioned.

You really think that it is totally random? I'm not sure I would agree with that from observations in airport security lines........

I fly alot especially right after 911 and yes the do it randomly. I was at KCI once and a veteran with an artificial leg and arm was made to run them through the x-ray machine and hop through to the other side, then frisked and search all his bags. Another time there was a TSA officer counting people in line and handing a card to every like 6th person to a different line for bag search and frisk.

This happens all the time.

There are people who waited a lot longer than 3 months for an interview date.

3 months is nothing to worry about. People are a bit spoiled these days I think by all the quick approvals. Some offices are simply backed up and you have to wait.

We got a quick approval  but I was in no way expecting it. I expected to wait six or so months, so when I came home three weeks after we filed and my husband told me, "I got my interview," I almost had a panic attack!

My son's I-130/I-485 was transferred to CSC last week. I really have no idea why. Our local office is pretty fast and doesn't seem to be backlogged.

We've already been delayed while waiting for his Hep B vaccination series to be complete and he's going for his THIRD biometrics appointment next week (that's a mystery to me and an infopass appointment gave me no clarification as to why his biometrics still aren't in the system).

Anyway, I'm hoping that that the transfer doesn't slow things down any further.

I have been singled out for random security checks 3 times in the last couple of years. All my belongings and my vehicle were thoroughly searched in both land and air crossings. Each time they have apologized and told me that it was completely random based on a computer algorithm.

So, yes, I agree that they do random checks..... in combination with a number of other factors.

Home now.

I have an internet archiver that is useful in tracking down pages that have been deleted from websites. The original USCIS press release was dated December 13, 2005 and has since been deleted.

USCIS.gov is blocking my robot from the archived page. Imagine that.

However, I had printed the memo and have it in my hand. The verbiage which was different is contained in the first sentence. The original memo cited that cases from the "EASTERN region or NBC" were subject to possible transfer.

The revised memo, as given in the link provided by eau_explain, states transfers can occur from the "Western, Central or Eastern Region or from the National Benefits Center".

So between December 13, 2005 and January 26, 2006, USCIS decided that cases from basically anywhere in the country could be transferred.

I'm a tad ignorant of K-3 process so please excuse this question if it doesn't apply to a K-3 situation. My understanding is that the AOS application has to have been pending for two years before someone can go straight to a 10 year GC, and that USCIS doesn't go by marriage date. Is this wrong?

Basically we dont know which DO's are backlogged or just the likelihood of the ones that have already been transfered to CSC already!

I havent noticed any from my DO transfered to CSC lately but i'm not expecting to be transfered anyhow......i've been married 2 years now so its likely that i'll be scheduled for an interview at some point.....even if my DO is backlogged....i guess i'll just have to wait...the chances of being approved for a 10 year GC without an interview would be very slim like 1%

It goes by how long the K-3 has been married before the AOS has been approved! So basically yes it goes by marriage date!
