It seems to depend on how busy your local office is. If it isn't busy you'll get transferred there and called for interview.

If it is busy, then you'll more than likely get a CSC transfer and get through without interview.

Not true.

A K3 who filed a month before us had an interview (India).

A K1 PI woman has an interview in Cincinnati 2 months before we filed. Yet another K1 PI woman got a CSC transfer at the same time....?

We got a transfer & approval yet others who filed at the same time had interviews. A Russian woman had an interview in Cincinnati, but we didn't.

Jashley820 is a Canadian who got transferred & is waiting on approval. Featherb got a CSC transfer/approval as well.

I think country & visa type makes a difference.

Not according to official documents that Rebeccajo stated she will bring to this thread. *points below*

It is based entirely upon how backlogged your District Office might be.

I have the official USCIS memo on this at my PC at home. Give me a few hours and I'll post it in the thread.

Anecdotal experience on VJ indicates no other pattern. No country of origin, no gender of applicant, nothing. Also has nothing to do with placing proof of the relationship in the file. We've seen countless petitioners who were transferred and sent not one drop of evidence of bonafides in the file.

I am noticing a current trend in the 'filer' threads of 50/50 odds of a transfer. The only useful scrap of data coming out of those threads, IMO.

I did see that. I was going off VJ's limited database of my local office. I studied it before I filed, trust me! ;)

I'm willing to bet money that those eligible for 10 year Green Cards are likely to get interviewed.

I have seen some posts recently where the I-751 approval didn't require an interview.

Funnily enough, when I went to my infopass appointment in April, to find out why my son's account suddenly said "interview cancelled", the Immigration Officer DID say to me that it depends on the type of visa aswell as other criteria as to what is deemed suitable for a CSC transfer. K-1 et al fall into the "no interview" criteria but there are many that don't.

However, there was no real clarification of this and it actually contradicts what the USCIS statement said. So I don't really know what to believe. I DO know that another Indianapolis filer around the time I filed got a transfer too. *shrugs*

I don't think there is any pattern as such. I'm from the UK and had interview for AOS, filed I-751 through CSC at the begining of May 2007 and have received a letter stating to await interview for ROC also. I honestly thought having been interviewed for AOS and having been married 2½ years that we would get ROC without interview, especially since we had an absolute ton of evidence - but I was wrong. So I would be interested to know the criteria for getting an interview if there is such a thing.

it does get slightly irritating to see currently people who filed I-751 after us who are getting apprpved without an interview, when according to what they post on VJ, they sent in far less evidence. OH well.......... such is life!!

I don't know if the basis for transferring to CSC has changed over the (almost) two years that it has been going on but, in my case, country and visa type was probably not a factor. I am from the Philippines and adjusted from a B1/B2 visa. I-465 was transferred to CSC and approved without interview.

I would even say it was because my District Office (Charlotte) was very backlogged during that time. Wait times for interviews were from 1 to 1.5 years.

I would bet they use the same criteria as TSA in the airports, it is completely random and based on percentages. Unless you have some red flag on your name related to fraud or terrorism it is probably nothing more than % required to interview.

We have to remember also that VJ is a very small % of people in the immigration process and we probably fall under a smaller percent group that is self motivated to go through the process well informed and self petitioned.

The only thing I have caught on to is when the I-130/I-129 was filed. For example if not many months have passed since you filed your initial application looks like you don't need to be interviewed. If a while has passed, like for me its been a year already since I filed the I-130, I would probably be called in for an interview. Of course this is just my speculation. :D

You really think that it is totally random? I'm not sure I would agree with that from observations in airport security lines........

I think country & visa type makes a difference.

I don't know about the country, but visa type may very well make a difference - an overwhelming majority of people adjusting for non-K visas gets interviewed.

Filed AOS from F-1

Yes, I'm apt to agree with G&T on this. It would make sense to have a system where it is completely random so scammers can't game the system by knowing the exact requirements. To be sure, there are some very basic requirements that each non-interview applicant has to pass, but after that, I think it is completely random. Making it completely random deters scammers as it'll be completely the luck of the draw if they'll be interviewed or not.

Rebeccajo, I'm looking forward to reading the USCIS memo. Please provide the link when you have time.

Honestly, you're the only person I've seen who has adjusted from B1/B2 who hasn't had an interview. The majority of non K visas are interviewed - very rare for them not to be, I've seen in my travails.

As for the comment by jasman0717, they aren't talking about I751, but I485 where a 10 yr green card is issued.

I've seen the USCIS memo and I take it with a grain of salt. USCIS is all talk anyway :D
