We need to be very careful about trolls... In the past they have been used as bait tactics by a certain attorney and his pals as a way to show that there was UPL going on in these types of fora.

I know that he's been beating the drum on other sites again and has mentioned this site on occassion...

Of course anyone coming here with some kind of agenda should be watched. Someone who comes here just to say things for the sole purpose of winding everyone up really does not need even more attention.

Zyggy's right. Those of us who have been around awhile remember the paranoia that began to take over VJ thanks to the scare-mongering tactics of Mr-I'm-A-Lawyer-and-You're-Not.

If that's who is baiting traps, rather than just some pathetic troll, best that no one answers any of the posts. If it IS just another useless troll, why encourage him? Let him go play with himself on some other site, rather than responding and keeping him snickering at us.

Well, not knowing who is a troll and who isn't, how are we supposed to be able to discriminate?

I answer posts that I feel I can contribute to, without analyzing the potential intentions of the OP.

As an ALMOST lawyer (bar exam is this weekend) I must say that guy was saying bull. We give advice based on our personal experiences, nobody is trying to sell legal advice here.

Nobody is practicing law at all! We don´t file stuff for each other, we don´t put stamps and sign under it representing anyone in this forum.

Next people are gonna say that if you say "hey, got the flu? Lemon tea with honey is good" and get sued by a doctor saying they were practicing medicine. Really, some lawyers have the nerve.

This is not the first time I get pissed at my own category and at how they shame the ones who are actually serious.

That's your opinion.. he has his opinion and it is shared by other attorneys... I of course side with your opinion as does pretty much everyone else on here.... but it is a little gray area..

The best way to deal with it is to give factual information and give sources wherever available... don't be afraid to refer people to attorneys or the pertinent authority... and never ever give anyone any information other than nice chit chat over email or PM...

What I am saying, is that this process is not usually run with a lawyer and suddenly VJ came and is stealing their job away.

It´s the opposite. Since the process is complex people seek lawyers to help them out.

But people are entitled to ask other people how they did it and try it out for themselves, without the help of a lawyer.

If a lawyer was needed or required all immigration processes would have the rule that they can only be filed through a lawyer.

I really don´t see ANY gray area. The lawyers that side with this are immigration lawyers trying to make more money out of this process. I am sure there plenty of immigration cases that in fact does need to be solved through a lawyer, and that´s why immigration attorneys are there.
