So I am looking for more encouragment than help. But here goes I am Canadian and my husband(July 21,2007) is american. We filed the I-130 and are wondering all the steps we can take to hurry this up in any way. Or at least go about it in the right way. We know that when the I-797 come back we send in the I-129F and what I am wondering is if we can send in the I-485 in then? I have job waiting for me down there and could get a letter saying that? Looking for help and anything will help. We are filing in the Vermont service centre and it seems as though that is the fastest of all of them.

Any help is useful

Wow, I wish my fiancee was canadian :) I could visit her more frequently.

I don't know of how you can hurry the process up any. What I did was log in once every 5-10 minutes to check my status online. Did it help my process go faster? I doubt it. Did it help calm me down by keeping me busy? Absolutely.

Another thing I did was read and reread the guidelines, forms, and instrcutions. I was absolutely amazed at how much I picked up through reading a form the 10th or 11th time. Also, I trolled the VisaJourney.com forums to gather more knowledge.

Best of luck!

you have to have the case number to sign up for email notifications. however, there's tons of information on that site as well.

best wishes!

Judging by what you've said, you've already taken all the necessary steps in order to make the process as speedy as possible for yourselves, so now you basically just sit back and wait for some good news (NOA2 aka approval :) .)

Visajourney has been a huge help for my husband and I, so you've definetely done yourselves a favor by creating an account here and doing some research. Most of us around here check the forums a few times a day and I can't emphasize how awesome it is to have all these fellow Canadians around for support and to share stories with. You'll find the community here to be very helpful in this process, I'm sure.

Anyways, you can't file the I-485 unless you were already residing in the US before you filed the I-130. (Sometimes people go for a visit to the US without intending to get married, but end up getting married during their visit, so they file the I-130 along with the I-485 to adjust status. This was the route I should have taken, had I known better, since we married spontaneously during a visit, but anywhoo..) Since you reside in Canada like most of us, that isn't an option.

I would suggest reading up a bit on the K3 and CR1/IR1 guides so you have a better idea which visa you would like to pursue if they both get approved at the same time. Each have their own benefits, so it is a pretty important decision.

Anyways, good luck with your journey, and welcome to VJ

Misty gave some great advice. Since you've already filed the I-130 I am pretty sure you are ineligible for a TN work visa as you've shown you have immigrant intent.

The only other thing that could speed up your K3 is finding family or friends that live in western Canada... if you change your address to theirs when you file the I-129F, you can interview in Vancouver which schedules interviews MUCH faster than Montreal. And when I say "much faster", about 4-6 months faster.

Welcome Rebecca, and good luck!

The only thing I can say is to go over the guides, and print out all of the example forms that you will need...they are very helpful... you can also start to gather all misc. items you will need later..such as your LONG form birth certificate, and police check...etc

I wish you luck going through VSC, when I filed I also heard how it was the fastest...but we got stuck in a crazy backlog and it took 4 months to get our NOA2's!!... there are STILL March filers waiting for their NOA2's, most waiting for CSC but some for VSC...

again good luck to you! try to stay in the Canada forum only, if you do venture out into other forums, remember to put on your helmet! ...LOL
