Is it possible to file for the work authorization a few weeks after we file for AOS? Or do they all have to be sent in at the same time?

Thanks,

Mel

They don't have to be sent together. AOS has to be filed first, then EAD with it or later on.

I believe you can even file it electronically, if you file it after you receive your NOA1 for your I-485.

Yes, they can be filed at different times. However,,, you may be required to complete your biometrics twice. If the EAD was filed after your AOS biometrics was completed, then you will need to complete another set of biometrics for the EAD. That is what happened to us. It is better to file both together if possible. The EAD is not required and not needed unless the applicant seeks employment. The EAD helps with ID at different government offices, DMV and SSA for example.
