That is why marriage proposals should be private! What's worse, being embarrassed, or her accepting a proposal due to peer pressure?

Maybe that was the idea? To pressure her into accepting the proposal?

That's what I was thinking. I feel like most of the proposals like this- that are very public- are used to put someone on the spot so that they will be afraid of retaliation from onlookers.
