Here is the article that tells of the new Certificate of No- Impediment policy...

God knows I never saw it all the times I was on the website. This was sent to me

by somebody at the OPA office in Kingston after sending them a message to update their website.

BTW..I still cannot find the damn article!

U.S. Embassy Announces Changes to Immigrant Visa Document Requirements

Beginning December 1, 2005, the Immigrant Visa Unit of the Consular

Section of the United States Embassy will require all Jamaica-resident

applicants for immigrant visas who are aged 18 years of age and older and

are in categories requiring them to be unmarried to obtain a

Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage. This new requirement will affect

applicants in the IR2, IR3, IR4, F11, F22, and F24 categories who are aged

18 or older. It will also affect all Jamaica-resident children aged 18

and older who will be accompanying an immigrant visa applicant.

Applicants should apply for a Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage

at any office of the Registrar General's Department or on the Registrar

General's Department website. Applicants may find further information

about this document and the form for requesting it at

http://www.rgd.gov.jm.

Also beginning December 1, 2005, the Immigrant Visa Unit of the

Consular Section of the United States Embassy will require all applicants for

immigrant visas who have served in the military to obtain a copy of

their Military Service Record. Applicants who have served in the Jamaica

Defence Force may obtain a Military Service Record at Up Park Camp,

Kingston 5.

Thanks Tracey for posting this but I still don't understand. Someone posted the same thing in the JA thread a long time ago but it doesn't state anything about the K1 or K3 visas but they still turn around and deny them the visa b/c of it. I just don't understand why the Embassy have to be that way. It should either be required for all visas instead of some and causing frustration later.

Maybe one day they will get their ####### together.

Just left Jamaica. Went to Registrar Generals office to apply for the No Impediment form. FYI, cost was $100 US. Very expensive. Lady requested a copy of fiancees birth certificate, we didnt bring it with us, but she was very helpful & pulled him up in the system when he verbally verified his parents names, dob & location of birth. She said that the document wasnt on the web & most likely will not be placed on there for security reasons. She stated that this new document was requested by US Immigration. I hope this helps you all. It takes up to 3 weeks to receive the form & you can have it shipped to a different location for pickup that may be closer to your fiancees home. We went & ordered it in Sav La Mar. Go to the Registrar Generals Website & you can personally go to the office that is closest to you. Office closed on Friday @ 3pm. It took us less than an hour to complete. They do not take credit cards.
