my fiance asked if a separate W2 is needed? He said, he has 1 page (front and back) of income tax return F-1040 which he filed by himself and he said W2 is done on tax return and now i wonder if we still need the W2 form or is it already in the tax return? sorry if my question is confusing as i am confused myself.. He's sending me the docs the day after tom. and i wanted to make sure we have everything...

the W-2 is a wage statement you receive at the end of the year from your employer. It backs the income and taxes paid that are reported on your Tax Return to the IRS. I would suggest he send a copy of the W-2 since it backs up his reported income.

Best if calls IRS [1-800 829-1040] and gets the last 3 years of TAX TRANSCRIPTS. They are free and more valid than W2s and ITRs. Looks like he still has time to do so. Takes about 7 days and he can scan or fax them to you.

ITRs and W2s will still work tho.

The US Embassy in Manila's web site is pretty clear for the minimums required in this area. I will paste the info below. Someone mentioned tax transcripts, but the web site states they want a copy of the actual tax return. Of course it doesn't hurt to send more than the minimums, but I would at least send exactly what they are asking for and then more on top of that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Form I-134 Affidavit of Support . The I-134 Affidavit of Support is required for returning residents (SB-1), fiancé(e)s or spouses of U.S. citizens (K1, K3), children of K1 and K3 applicants, spouses and children of LPRs, applicants with special immigrant status, and follow-to-join derivative family members of employment-based (E) applicants. A copy of the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return (Form 1040) should accompany the I-134. Fax copies of the ITR are acceptable.

10. VISA PHOTOGRAPHS . Two (2) colored photographs printed according to specifications, provided in the visa application packet.

Employment-based applicants require the following additional documents:

Official Job Offer with the salary stated from the potential U.S. employer, issued less than one year prior to visa application

Visa Screen Certificate (for nurses and physical therapists)

Old and current professional identification cards

Any document not in English must be accompanied by an English translation. A competent translator must certify the translations.

Consular officers may require additional documentation to adjudicate your application.

Consular officers may ask to see originals of documents. The applicant may submit a photocopy of a document along with the visa application but should bring the original document for the officer’s inspection.
