Interview letter - FINALLY!

My husband's interview has been scheduled! October 4 in Baltimore, MD.

I have some questions regarding the documents they want us to bring.

My husband came to US on K-3 Visa (non-immigrant spouse) and already had his medical exam for the K-3 visa.

Does he need to have another medical exam? I thought the medical exam was included in the sealed packet that

we gave to the customs office when he arrived at JFK.

He doesn't speak English. Am I able to be the translator? Or can I bring a non-relative person to translate for my husband?

We only have a certified translation of our marriage certificate. Is this sufficient? I'm not sure how we would get a

certified copy since we were married in Turkey!

Did your letter for the appointment have a list of items needed to bring at the bottom? I don't remember but I think you are required to bring a translator also and it can't be you? Please someone that has an appointment letter handy reply to this.

I got my interview letter last week. To be honest if you received an interview letter then you are already in the best position to answer the question.

With regards to the medical information you should be fine if you already submitted it.

The interview letter pretty clearly states that '...if you do not speak English fluently, you should bring an interpreter'. I would be very wary about you translating for him. I would bring someone else who is FLUENT in both English and the second language. You don't want the officer to suspect you are not truly translating but giving your own answer.

The marriage certificate I can only answer based upon what is written on the interview letter...

A certified copy of your marriage document issued by the appropriate civil authority.

AND

A certified English translation for each foreign language document.

Also note the next sentence which impacts your translator...The translator must certify that s/he is fluent in both languages, and that the translation in its entirety is complete and accurate.

Others may answer this differently but the way I read it you do need a certified copy of the certificate from the civil authority in Turkey. If this will likely cause you problems I would suggest you call USCIS and try to find a way around it rather than turn up without it.
