Hi, can somebody help.

I am a US citizen and got married in June to a lady with a religious visa. I read the USCIS web site and found out she has to adjust her status. Reading some the comments in the forum, I noticed that we had to file I-130 and I-485 (AOS) together. Is this correct? I just filed for her an I-130 and received a receipt of received. If it is yes I had to file both forms, what can I do now? Should we go ahead and file I485 now or should we wait until I-130 is approved. Another things, her visa will expire on October of this year. Do I have to file something else to extend her stay. Please help, I will appreciate it.

Jim.

Send in the I-485 packet along with a copy of the I-130 NOA1 receipt letter. And continue the process outlined in the AOS guides.

I'm in the same position right now except i am the religious visa holder expiring in march next year. My best friend from back home has been through the process and survived.

Yes it's great idea to file i-485 right now as for one, once it's recieved and you get the receipt she can stay in the USA legally until a decision is made and second you can apply for a work permit if needed.
