New to the forum and this process, so I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered. I already tried the search function, but did not seem to find the exact information I am looking for.

Background: After spending years as a post-doc on an H1-B visa, my partner and I (a US citizen by birth) finally got married on 7/26/07. We then spent the next few romantic days finalizing her adjustment of status and work permit application and sent that off on 7/28/07. Utilizing the USPS's receipt notification service we know that our application materials were received on 7/30/07. Her current work permit expires on 9/30/07.

Question: We have still (as of 8/20/07) not received verification from USCIS that our application has been received and/or that the work permit application has been approved. How long is current processing time for approval of application for an Employment Authorization Card?

I see (according to the egov.uscis.gov website) that the processing date for the I-765 application is 4/28/07, however, we were told by multiple (seemingly) credible sources that the work permit is received 'immediately' or within 30-45 days of applying. Granted, I am jumping the gun since we are still within this time period, however, I had a 'gut feeling' that the work permit would be received immediately.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I-765 is normally processed and approved within 90 days!! I'm on day 91 and yet to be approved my EAD. I've never heard of anyone getting a work permit "immediately"

even getting approved a work permit within 30-45 days is pushing it a bit.....but stranger things have happened!!
