Oklahomas version of a hurricane

i now know what a hurrican feels like, this shows part of Okla on Saturady night on into Sunday morning. My back yard looks like a war zone with branches and leaves down, bushes pushed on their sides or broken, people being rescued from cars, trucks and even a buss swept off not only city streets but large highways. Power is still out for many.

that wasn't a hurricane it wasn't even hurricane strength when it came ashore.

im sure not a real strength as in being there but the weather pictures did show the line moving thru with the same picture of the eye right about okc plus there were tornadoes mixed here and there most wind i heard of was about 80 for a extended time, wasnt fun in the middle of the night anyway....

I don't doubt that Charles!! We drove through there a few weeks ago (on our road trip) and hubby had to peel my fingers off the steering wheel when we got to Colorado!!! Just not used to driving with the wind trying to push me off the highway!

Kansas maybe windy because of the hot air charles puts out (in more ways than one) i lived in Kansas once myself..

yeah, Oklahoma got the remnants of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Erin as it tracked inland. The winds weren't hurricane or tropical storm strength anymore but the gusts were still very strong and damaging. The rain was similar to what does come down in a hurricane or tropical storm and what we get (and are missing right now and causing our major drought!) here in Georgia after hurricanes strike the East Coast or Florida/Gulf area. It is a sure sign when you see those bands of clouds passing overhead - and then when you end up on the other side after what was once the eye passes and you get the winds from the opposite direction. It is a real storm and there has been loss of life due to the flooding.
