Retiring majority leader labels Democrat 'racist' who blames all bad on being black

One day after announcing he would resign this summer from Congress, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said he's prepared to file an ethics charge against Rep. Cynthia McKinney, who is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a Capitol Police officer who asked the Georgia Democrat for identification.

"If somebody else doesn't file an ethics charge, I will," DeLay said on Rush Limbaugh's radio show this afternoon. "I am going to defend these Capitol Police. ... They are incredibly professional and courageous, and I am not going to let this happen."

DeLay also blasted McKinney as a racist who uses her color as an excuse for perceived victimhood.

"She is a racist," DeLay said. "She bases everything on race. Everything bad that has ever happened to her is because she's black. She's anti-Semitic, that's who she is."

Last Wednesday, McKinney was stopped by a Capitol policeman while going around a security checkpoint in a House office building. Congress members are allowed to bypass the checkpoints, but McKinney was not wearing her ID pin and the officer did not recognize her.

A scuffle ensued, with McKinney allegedly striking the officer.

"The issue is racial profiling," McKinney, who is black, told CNN.

"You can't stop me," she added today on "American Morning." "The real issue is face recognition and security around the Capitol complex."

CNN later interviewed U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer, asking him to recount what had happened between the officer and the congresswoman.

"He reached out and grabbed her and she turned around and hit him," Gainer said on CNN. "Even the high and the haughty should be able to stop and say, 'I'm a congressman' and then everybody moves on."

Monday, police sent the results of their investigation of the Georgia congresswoman to a federal prosecutor, who will decide whether to press assault charges.

She could be charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor, or assault on a police officer, which is a felony.

Note: DeLay DOES have some pointers, especially as McKinney HAS made a lot of anti-Semitic comments in past.

She totally played the race card. I've seen one too many people like this and it makes me nuts.

She said she was harrassed because she was a black female. COME ON!

i'm the first to admit that racism DEFINITELY exists. I'm not denying that but...don't blame EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU on it.
