hi vj people :)

just wanna ask if passport is required when taking the CFO seminar. my passport is not with me anymore since i already had my medical last week. SLEC retained my passport telling me that they will be the one to send it to USEM. so if it's required in the CFO, does that mean i cannot take the seminar till i have my passport? is there any option for this?

thanks. :)

Why not just wait for your visa? So you don't have to make two trips to CFO (first, to attend seminar; second, to have your visa stamped). As what Lira said, you can attend the seminar without the passport, but you need to present enough identification and documentation that you are indeed applying for a US visa (like the Appointment Letter).

island_princess is right. I think it will be better if you will just wait until you have your visa so you will only have to go to CFO in one day. When you get your visa, you can attend the morning CFO seminar (at PRISM) then go to CFO at Quirino for the stamp on your passport. Then you're all set to go. But you can still go to CFO now to attend the seminar, just bring enough identifications with you or if you have a photocopy of your passport, that may do as well. Whatever you decide, Good Luck.

FYI. In Cebu, it's just the same. The seminar is administered by SMEF, which is located infront of San Carlos Boy's High, while the CFO certificate will be issued by CFO itself in another location, far from SMEF (about a 60.00pesos taxi ride).

Babesprincess...

I have a different point of view than "Island Princess" and "vsmtghdy" because I like to get as much out of the way as possible. However, the location that you will be attending the Guidance and Counseling Seminar would dictate my answer. If you are going to attend the seminar in Cebu, then I would say wait for your visa to arrive because both the Guidance and Counseling Seminar and the CFO Sticker are both administered at the CFO in Cebu. Conversely, if you are attending the seminar in Manila, I would say that it's better to go ahead and attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar because it's administered by PRISM (on Taft Ave in Manila) on behalf of the CFO at a different location than the CFO, which is located on President Quirino Ave (where you obtain the CFO Sticker). Maybe it's just the "American" in me that does not like to spend all of my dahamn day waiting to get things done and having my beloved subjected to a day full of non-sense. Everything takes half the dahamn day or the entire day to get done for something simple in the Phil. I say cut you beloved one some slack if it's not a strain on either of you! However, it's truly a matter a preference. Either way, you will be fine.

Cheers!!!

IP...

Thanks a bunch! From what I had seen about year ago, I thought that in Cebu that the CFO administered everything. My bad! I am also working to update the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide to incorporate this information.

Thanks again...
