Hi

I don't have a state ID or driver's licence for our AOS interview next week and it asks for this on the interview letter. I only have my EAD and passport, is this ok? Is it just ID they need to verify you are who you say you are?

Thanks lads :)

If you have your EAD just go to the DMV and get a state id, assuming you have a ss number, They did look at Luvy's. I think it is good to have and id that matches your address so you and you husband show matching addresses.

Got to the dmv....

Bring your certificate licence....

Passport,

Social security card

And your Noa for AOS

Then they will give you a paper stating all the information and a week after youwill be getting your state ID card.

Also it s more easy to get a state ID than to bring the passport everywhere with you....

Good luck

I agree with Mike and Luvy, just go to the DMV and get an ID. It is always good to have since it will show our residence, and you don't have to carry your passport around to prove your identity.

Good question and now one I'm considering. If you can get a state ID card with little hassle and have the money to do that, then I recommend it. It shouldn't be too terribly hard and at least you'll have the receipt. But if you don't have the time/can't meet the criteria, then understandably you could tell the immigration officer this if he asks. :)

the passport will be fine, even if its in the maiden name. getting the state ID is not as easy as that. In NY, and many other states, you need points. Its not always easy to get the required points. and, for instance my wifes SS number is still in her maiden name since we couldn't change it because the k-1 visa was expiring too soon after we were married.

I dont have State ID or Drivers for Alabama yet either.

I was wondering the same thing.

My interview is not until May 17th, but I now work till 5:15 Mon-Fri and there is no way I can get to Montgomery to get either piece of ID.

Here's hoping I wont have any problems with out it.

I do have EAD and my passport so hopefully like some have said, it will be OK

I think the most important identification to have is your passport. At my interview my passport was all the officer asked to see didn't even want to see any of my husband's ID. He didn't even look at or ask about my EAD card either so I still have it.

As the letter clearly specifies, your passport is fine! It is still a government issued ID no matter what country it is from.
