I'm a little confused (sorry) about what happens at the interview ... if approved, are you allowed to leave the country immediately? Or, do you still need to wait for the official green card to be issued?
Unless they stamp your passport with a I-551 you have to wait until GC is in hand unless you have advanced parole also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

If you receive the stamp yes you can leave the country immediatly however most offices do not give the stamp out anymore. Personally I would wait for the card in case of problems with the card, ie wrong info on it. You dont want to get caught out of the country while you wait for some time to fix errors on your card.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline

Why not? What will happen if you left the country and later your GC comes home and there are mistakes on it? Wouldn't your spouse be able to fix this?

Also what offices give the stamp? I thought it was POE officers?

Thank you,

Rika

The applicant needs to sign the form to correct any issues with the GC so someone else can't file the form for them. Also you're confusing the I-551 stamp. POEs give you the stamp if you're entering on a CR-1/IR-1. Adjustment applicants can (but not always) get the stamp at their local district office when they are approved at their interview.

You can leave the country anytime you want. Depending on where in the adjustment process you are, you may find it very difficult if not impossible to re-enter the USA. If you desire to re-enter the USA, you should not leave until you have received AP. AP is you interim re-entry document until AOS is complete.

YMMV

we had our interview yesterday. the officer put a stamp in our passport which says - approved as a permanent resident. he said that we could travel using this stamp until the green card arrives.
