I am reading the shortcuts here, eg. email DS3032 before receiving the hard copy of the paper.

I wonder how much time this could save comparing to just strictly follow the NVC procedure? If it is roughly a month, probably not a big deal anyway.

April 28 2007 sent I-130 to NVC

May 22 2007 application transfered to CSC

July 11 2007 received NOA1, decide to apply CR1 instead of K3

Aug 14 2007 touched (not sure if it is touched before Aug 14)

Aug 21 2007 NOA2 in snail mail :)

Aug 27 2007 NVC received our case, number is assigned.

Sep 11 2007 DS3032 and AOS bill generated and mailed out

Sep 12 2007 mailed out DS3032 from Canada and hubby mailed AOS bill in US. DS3032 will arrive NVC 3 days slower than AOS bill.

Sep 18 2007 Auto msg says NVC received DS3032, didn't mention AOS bill yet.

Sep 24 2007 IV fee bill generated

Oct 8 received IV fee bill. Still waiting for 864form

Oct 13 received 864form letter. It was issued on Sep 24 at NVC. Mailed out 864 on Oct 15

NVC agent said they don't receive IV fee bill nor 864. Send out IV fee bill again end of Oct.

Nov 8 IV fee bill entered to system

Nov 12 DS230 generated. But agent still said 864 is not received yet.

Nov 20 resend out 864 again(Hubby forgot to write case number on documents last time)

Nov 27 NVC Auto message said received 864, now waiting for 230

Nov 29 230 delivered. Will arrive at NVC next day.

Dec 3 NVC received 230 and put into its system

Dec 13 NVC operator told us the case is in administrative process.

Dec 14 Called operator again, and magically the case is completed!

It depends. There are basically only two usefull shortcuts, the DS-3032 shortcut and the DS-230 shortcut (which is at the end). The DS-3032 shortcut saves you up to two months at best but since you're from Canada (and thus in a easily accessable country that is close) it will likely save you a couple weeks, say 2-3 weeks. The DS-3032 e-mail is currently actually taking around 2 weeks to get an responce and thus it may not save you any time at all. However, you may save some time if you make the DS-3032 yourself and send it in via paper format.

The DS-230 shortcut (which is the last step in the NVC process) saves you between one to three weeks, mostly around 10 days. So jointly you will save at least three weeks if you use shortcuts and at most you save around three months. Then again making the documents yourself has some risks of errors but those risks are so minor (even if they may seem large) that it's not really anything to worry about...

You know, even saving two weeks makes a difference. That's two weeks more to spend with your loved one instead of waiting on the phone at the NVC who is very happy I called...and thanks me for holding...because my call is valuable to them....

As far as the choice of agent form, it seems like overnighting the form via USPS instead of emailing it is the faster route. You can do that as soon as the form has been generated-don't wait to receive the form!

I think they save you about 2-3 weeks per document, except for the I-184 which can be completed by the NVC before the DS-230. So if you use them for the DS-3032, AOS bill and DS-230, you're saving about 4-6 weeks, at least. Does that sound about right guys?
