Oooh! Thanks soo much for this!! Also - I don't know if anyone knows any cheap places to ship cheese to the US? We spent 25 quid on cheese before I moved and forgot to pack it

can you even ship perishables? I thought you couldn't?

I think you can with refrigerated units but it can be expensive... Gonna do some more research anyway

I sent some cheese to friends of mine in Toronto. It was blue cheese from Neal's yard. I asked them about refridgeration in the shop, they said, well it's cheese, it doesn't strictly have to be refridgerated, it would just get stronger more quickly from being at room temperature. (Which is how they store them in the shop - at room temp). Since my friends attitude to cheese is the stronger the better, I took the chance and sent it. They loved it, nobody got sick, it was all fine

Hmm - fair point - I know cheese tends to be better left out to "breathe" as it were - maybe it can just be sent through regular mail... not sure if customs would like it though...
