Where to go dress shopping in Vancouver

We're going to have a very small wedding, and I want to wear a dress that's simple yet somewhat elegant, maybe a bit funky, and that suits me and isn't a wedding dress or white. I want a dress that I can wear on other dress-up occasions without it looking like a wedding dress.

Can people who know Vancouver suggest where to shop for such a dress? I mostly wear casual clothing, so I don't know where to look. The last time I needed a dress for a special occasion, I found one at the Bay, but I didn't see anything there this time that I wanted to get. I've been to a few bridal shops, but their non-wedding dresses look very much like bridesmaid dresses and not like dresses that most people would want to wear on other occasions. Or maybe I need to find the right bridal shops?

I've looked online for ideas, but I'm not going to buy a dress that I can't try on first. The size I wear varies, and some styles just don't look right on me. I'll know the right dress when I try it on.

This place is GREAT. They have brides dresses, bridesmaids, prom. The prices are great and the staff very knowledgable. You have to drive through the ghetto to get there, but it's worth it. Great selection.

Zioni (on Robson St or Oakridge Mall) has some dresses, but they tend to run to the extreme funky.

Otherwise, Zara (also on Robson St) is a good place to start, and their prices are quite reasonable too.
