I-130 and additional information question

I have a complicated situation but I think we can resolve most of it on our own with just a couple of queries:

My step-son has just come to live with us. Unfortunately the birth certificate has the wrong father named (a long story I won't go into). The info I've found to date suggests a sworn affidavit from the Mother along with a DNA test should overcome this. A pain but at least doable. So the question really is should this additional information simply be presented at the interview?

As my husbands I-130 was submitted nearly 8 weeks ago now we're obviously very keen to post his ASAP to prevent more delays than we'll already have. If we need to wait for his Mother to swear the affidavit and we have to obtain the DNA results to send with the I-130 this would obviously cause much longer delays.

Obviously an odd scenario but I figure there must be someone who has gone through the I-130 process with birth certificate issues for a child who knows roughly what's expected when.

I don't know the answer, but your post made me wonder. How difficult it would be to change the birth certificate? (this would eliminate having to drag around documents in the future...unless that is what you meant - to change the birth certificate..)

It's something we've looked into and sadly it seems is a no go. Had she left the field with the Father in blank we'd have a chance. As it is it's more or less impossible to change.

Courts *can* in theory order a change but as far as we can see it's only for very exceptional circumstances and can take a very long time. Not only would our circumstances not be exceptional enough for them, we had everything geared towards a set moving date (within a few months either way obviously) and long delays would cause problems we'd rather not have unless we had no choice.
