Hi,

I have a question about tax transcripts and form i-864..

We managed the order the IRS transcripts from this website http://www.tax9er.com/tax_return_copy/

In the instructions on form i-864 it states:

"For purposes of this affidavit, the line for gross (total) incomeon IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered whendetermining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ,the line for adjusted gross income will be considered".

Through the above website, we ordered two documents for each of the past three years. One is called "tax return 20XX" and the other is called "tax return transcript 20XX". For 2005 and 2006, both the "tax return" and the "tax return transcript" documents (although they look totally different) are both labeled on the actual document as "1040". For the year 2006, the "tax return" document is labeled as "1040" and the transcript is called "1040A".

Am I missing something for 2005 and 2006?? I am confused

Has anyone ordered documents from this website before? If so can you tell me what you submitted to the NVC and what was accepted? And is what I have acceptable?

The other thing is that the above statement specifies that for forms 1040 and 104A, they will consider the "gross (total) income". All I can see on the tax returns and transcripts is either "total income" or "adjusted gross income". There is no "gross income". Can anyone tell me which figure I should be looking at?

Thanks in adavnce for your replies!

Correction ;-) - I have form 1040 ONLY for both 2005 and 2006. But for 2004 I have ONLY 1040A.. I don't have both 1040 and 1040A for any of the years. Am I supposed to have a 1040 and a 1040A for each year?

Hi...on my I-864EZ, the "TOTAL INCOME " in my tax return transcript is what I used to document my previous year income in the form. If you received the tax return transcript, you will find the amount right above the "Adjustments to income". I think all NVC wants to see is your total gross income before taxes and other adjustments. Basically your wages, tips , salaries, distributions and dividends/interest received. Just be sure to include copies of 2006 W2. It is not required to include W2 from the 2005 and subsequent year.

futballdad

ps: I made copies of my 2006 1040A and W2 and used the tax return transcript for 2005 (1040) and 2004(1040A) for my supporting documentation along with my I-864EZ.

Thanks all for all of your replies.. :)

Okay, so it's the "total cincome" line they will be looking at..

So now, the only thing that I don't understand is if I should have a 1040A AND 1040 for each year. Or is it okay to only have one or the other? Because for some years I have the 1040, and for others I have the 1040A. Is this acceptable?

And form i-864 states that W2's are not required, so long as you have you have the transcripts, so I havent ever bothered to try and dig them up!

This is a bit of a nightmare as I am trying to get what we need from the states while in Australia as my husband is deployed and unreachable right now..

This is the reason that we ordered them off the above listed website.. as the IRS will only mail within the US and I am trying to manager our paperwork from here so it makes things difficult.. it was a good tip!

So if anyone can help with my next Q, that would be wonderful.

Thanks again :)
