But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Are you advocating illegal immigration only for the people you like?

yes that is it, you got it. Of course not.

I am advocating you seal the borders, weed out the criminals, start up a national ID card (which could be updating the SS card to function like a greencard), give all visitors at POE a visitor card and then start to process people who are now here for residency and verification.

So you support amnesty?

It is not amnesty. 12,000,000+ people are here. There current ability to roam freely needs to be stopped. Obviously sending back everyone who has been here for a long time is not feasible. But, the nation needs to close it's door to illegal immigrants first. Seal up the leaks and punish the employers who hire them.. So it will kill both the supply and demand.. Then worry about what to do with them. I think a lot of people will go back on their own accord. If you have no job, car, place to live. Why would you stay here?? and that applies to everyone here illegally.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

To the contrary illegal immigration is not a problem in Aus.. If it where a problem the appropriate laws would be created to deal with it.

So you admit that illegal immigration can be dealt with without a National ID?

The whole point of the ID card is for quick verification. The card alone is not going to solve the problem. It will not kill the supply or demand. It is only a means for the police or ICE to do their job efficiently; without wasting time going through system after system to determine someone's status.

This also applies to a landlord, employer, car dealer, loans office, school, county official etc. Currently they have very little, if anything, to determine someone's status. But with an ID card they could ask for it first, coupled with some other form of photo ID, before they carry out any service.. This action alone is what will stem the flow of illegal immigrants. With a National ID card this is a 2 second process. Without it, the task is almost impossible for anyone who is not in law enforcement..

OK I can agree with the bolded part. But I'm not sure why you're standing behind an @rse backwards ID card policy which specifically doesn't do that.

What several people have now said is that there are better things to spend the money on - with regards to enforcement. And this ID card idea addresses precisely none of them.

Give everyone legally in the country a microchip. If someone gets stopped and doesn't have their chip give them a gun and send them to Iraq to earn their right to be here. If they don't want to go, send them anyway but without the guy. Did I just steal a George Carlin joke

The USSR did that in WW2 - a gun for 1 man in 2. If you were lucky you were given a 20-year old bolt action rifle. If you were unlucky, you got a big stick.

those frisky commies lost 20 million but Stalin was the iron man...yeah right..

Well their 'national draft' was rather frightening - no jail time if you didn't want to serve, instead you got shot!

In Stalin's Russia, people got shot for much less than "not wanting to serve."

A political joke could land you in the Gulag.

so just because you are Hispanic you should pay for what the illegal immigrants have done??

my hubby is Hispanic... so it is ok for him to get pulled over just because he his Hispanic and they might suspect him of being illegal??

No but 'if' your husband is pulled over, his status should be verified.. It should be up to him to prove he is legally authorized to reside in the nation and not the other way around.

So guilty until proven innocent? Should we take that methodology up in other situations as well?

It is up to you to prove that you did not commit the petty offense? You are guilty of it until proven innocent?

Cost is a prime consideration - especially if you're talking about rolling this out to include tourists on 2-week holidays.

Big deal, let them complain or stay home.

That attitude might loose the US a lot of revenue from tourists and business travellers, that would rather do business elsewhere than to abide to the US bullshit imposed on the "evil" foreigners.

If you want to turn the US into a "greater North-Korea", closed of and suspicious of all foreigners, then that is an interesting vision but hardly appealing to thinking people who love liberty.

What happened to land of the free, home of the brave?
