Nothing to add eh? You sure get frustrated fast. Lets try again.

I don't have anything to hide. Yes it bothers me. It bothers me because:

1) I value a modicum of personal privacy.

2) I don't want my data consolidated into a single database where it will be more open to abuse and ID theft. If the system is compromised I lose all my personal data rather than one or two things.

Number_6 you know very well that is most other developed countries the police have much more flexibility in capturing the criminals, with any means necessary. This is one of the main reasons I cannot stand the left in America because they talk about equality, helping people bla bla bla when in reality they are only worried about their own ###. You have to ask yourself would you like to protect children and innocent people from harm or death or would you prefer to worry about some imaginary threat of privacy invasion. You cannot have it both ways..

Hmmm... name a few. Lets talk specifics.

And is the threat of privacy invasion 'imaginary'? Did you read the thesnowman's post on page 26?

Interrelated things. There is a huge difference between someone American committing a crime to someone here illegally committing a crime. Under the status quo not only are the illegal immigrants not being punished more severely for a crime, they are actually being let off..

What is the difference?

no one is saying that we want the illegals running around freely.... but how is a card going to protect you??

like has been said a few times on this thread already...the money that would be used for this card could be better spent on other areas of preventing illegal immigration that would have more effect then the card....

Preventing illegal immigration.. How so?

People start fear mongering about Big Brother #######; When in reality all a card and a database would store is someone's basic details and whether they are a legal resident of the US or a citizen period. So all of the other BS about the government watching me in the shower and pulling me over because I am Latino is basically ridiculous.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Many citizens don't want to be enumerated in a "citizen database", can you understand that?

You don't see a difference. You don't see how someone here illegally who is committing crimes is not here because they are poor but only here to continue there crime spree on Americans. You don't see anything wrong with that.

Well maybe not; just look at the pathetic UK justice system. What happened to those 2 kids that kidnapped that other young child from the mall, tortured him and killed him again??

Moreover, its never ridiculous to discount the opinions of taxpaying voters who would be potentially targetted in the manner you describe.

Those kids were UK Citizens (not illegal immigrants) - from poor and abusive backgrounds I might add. And they were minors at the time of the crime. What did you expect the authorities to do?
