My general take on it is not 'If I have done nothing wrong I have nothing to fear' but rather 'If I have done nothing wrong you need a goddamn warrant.'

Americans want something done but I'm pretty sure that if this universal portable p.a.s.s.p.o.r.t. thing goes through, in five years you'll hear people b!tching because oddly, making a duplicate, portable I-94 didn't get rid of all the Mexicans. I understand that people want something done. I do, too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to support redundant legislation because it 'looks tough.'

In reality that is an argument in favor of a national ID card. If there was a single database of everyone in the country USC and alien alike with biometric information included then ID theft would be much harder. You might have the information but without the proper thumb print the information is useless. I personally don't care if the government knows I went to the supermarket and bought bread and milk with my thumb print. It's a non issue for me.
