So we just moved to a new place and I was wondering how could i change my address, i already call the USCIS and they said that if I dnt have my receipt number yet I should use the AR-11 form but this form wont change my address in the USCIS database.

What can i do to change my address in the USCIS, I know i dnt have a receipt number because i dnt have a NOA1 yet but i wont get a NOA1 if i dnt get to change my address........

Ahhh, sorry, I didn't know. I guess that is why they're so insistent that we change our address with them.

I hope it works too but for others reading this thread, let this be what should have been your umpteenth warning by now that USCIS and address changes are a big problem. Avoid even the possibility of needed to change your address during the AOS process. There are absolute horror stories out there from people.

We plan to move before the AOS is complete, so used my daughter's address as an "in care of" on the AOS forms.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I was just wondering what the outcome was with using your daughter's address on the AOS forms? Also, does she live in the same state as you? Trying to figure out whether we could use my future mother-in-laws address as my fiance works contracts and it's possible we may be moving every 13 weeks. Part of the problem is that she lives in West Virginia and we will be living in North Carolina or maybe even California during the AOS process.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all,

USCIS issued a memo after the 2006 Ombudsman Report that they were going to remove the 'do not forward' stamp from the envelopes (I will try to find the memo). Here is the quote form the 2007 Ombudsman report:

The Ombudsman is pleased to report the agency’s plans to adopt the essence of the 2006 Annual Report’s recommendation (AR 2006 -- 08). For verification of green card delivery, USCIS reported in its 2006 Annual Report Response (at p. 16):

In FY 07, as we complete the transition to new postage meters, we plan to transition to new standards for mail delivery to allow mail forwarding with notification from the US Postal Service through its address service. As part of the proposed new fee structure, we further plan to move to 2-day delivery of cards with delivery confirmation. This will reduce delivery times, give customers tracking numbers so they can track mail delivery, while also providing for more secure delivery.

[source]

just follow the above it states

USCIS reported in its recent fee proposal, now final, that it was partnering with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to develop a way for USCIS “to track delivery of each document and to respond to queries from applicants regarding the status of document delivery.”69 The proposed process change will apply to green cards and all USCIS secure documents (i.e., EADs and travel documents). USCIS and USPS foresee secure documents delivered via priority mail, a higher class of service than first class, with delivery confirmation.70 The Ombudsman will monitor the situation as the process is introduced.

While there have been horror stories about changing the address, we changed address without any real problems.

As a point to remember, make sure your name is on or in your mailbox, if the mail carrier is unsure that you live there, they will return it to the sender.

Hi guys, I am new in this topic, I would like to know if I should send AR-11 to notify USCIS of my actual address.

I have on all the form my wife's parent address and it is there were we receive our mail. We are actually on an appartement and we have been here for more than 2 months, this appartement is just temporary because we will be moving to Texas by the end of june.

1- Should I inform USCIS of my actual address even if we already have been here more than 10 days and even if it is a temporary address.

2 Should I inform USCIS about the new address we will have when we move to Texas?

I have no problem receiving the mail at her parent's address, and I dont want to have any delay on my process because of the change of address.

Please I really need help because I read that I can be deported if I dont notify USCIS.

Thank you in advance
