Hi Yardies and others in the Caribbean effected by Hurricane Dean,

We have almost 24 hours before it hits Jamaica as a possible Hurricane 4 or 5! Any last minute suggestions you'd like to share with or fiance(e)'s back home, let's put them here.

Although, I'm sure all the cell towers will be out for a while after Dean passes. I told Ken to store up on digicel phonecards, because I'm sure that is gonna be the first thing to go after service is restored.

I can't stop watching the Weather Channel...I know I need to! :(

Anyway, let's never forget the power of prayer!

Gill

Morning Gill

Just tell your SO to be safe and to make sensible decisions. Jamaicans on a whole are stubborn and will tgry to ride out the storm. I spoke with my niece last night and asked her what preparations she made. She has done nothing. Did not buy any food/water or milk. Michael is at work until 5pm today and he does not like to be outside when it rains. I just begged them to be careful and be safe.

I keep watching the news and they say by the time it gets to JA tomorrow it will be a Cat 5. May God help us.

Your VJ sis

Claire

I am here in Puerto Rico and although Dean missed us it's VERY windy today. We're still under Tropical Storm Watch so I wouldn't be surprised if we lose light as well, since it goes off very often here in any tiny little rain.

Hope everyone is safe for the places where Dean will strike.

To any and all in Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Yucatan and where ever Mean old Dean goes after that.... take the necessary precautions for a Major Cat 4-5 Hurricane. Cover those windows with shutters, secure the doors, get extra food, water, lanterns, batteries, portable radio or tv, get gas for the car. Locate a safe room in your house (inside bathroom or closet) and get it ready to ride the worst part of the storm out inside there.

I've been through a Cat 2 Hurricane (Wilma) so know the drill so well.

My prayers go out to all and be safe

Great web sights for hurricane preparations......

Have any of you been able to get in touch with your loved ones thus far? I'm thanking God that the hurricane basically missed my husband's area of the Dominican Republic other than some heavy rains and stuff --and I'm praying for those that have people in Jamaica.

I hope all is well under the circumstances.
