How long did you know your boyfriend/girlfriend before you became engaged? How long was your engagement? My fiance propossed to me in February of this year after dating for a long time. How many visits did you take to Jamaica in between times? I try to visit every 2-3 months, but this has been the longest we've gone :crying: ...it will be a little over 5 months when I get there in September.

When Aaron and I were first engaged, we had known each other for 6 months. I try to go back as often as I can, last year I went back about 4-5 times, this year I have only been back twice because I knew we should have our interview this year and I would need the money for our plane tickets.

Good luck to you and your honey :thumbs:

Welcomr to VJ WendyJunior;

This is the best place for you to be to get information that is not provided elsewhere. The members here are very informative and resourceful. They are also very supportive and will be there for your when you are in doubt or hurting. There is always a shoulder to lean on. Trust me you will not regret being on here. Any questions you have, just ask away. They will mal chip in or refer you to the right place. I am not filing, but I have learned so much about the immigration process as it relates to JA, I quote VJ to everyone who will listen :blush: Just try to read as much as you can so you can be self-resourceful, but if you aren't sure or something is not clear, ask away.

Again, welcome. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Your VJ sis Claire

We got "engaged" almost a year after we met (January)......then we filed a few months later (June), we had our interview in December and he was here in January.

I made four trips in 17 months.....the longest we went not seeing each other was January to December.....that was because we decided to file in June and didn't know how soon we would get our interview date. I had very limited vacation time and really couldn't chance booking a trip and having to go back shortly after for the interview.

We got engaged about a year after we met and married 7 months after that. I made about 15 trips to Jamaica total.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Hi Wendyjr;

Mike was introduced to me by my brother's ex-wife in March this year. I went to JA to meet him in April and it was a love connection. We have spoken every day since. I am planning to go back to see him in October for seven wonderful days. We were planning to get married on 10/14 and start the visa journey, but a visa petition that was filed for him back in 2000 by his father, has become current, and his visa is now being processed. Hopefully, if things go the way I have seen on here for the IR-1 visa process. We will be together permanently within 6-8 months. I am so happy. :lol::lol:(L):dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Hi Wendy! All the best with your journey!!

We were engaged after 2 and 1/2 years of meeting. We got married after 8 1/2 years of being together. When we filled out the I-130 the journey took nine months. So after 9 1/2 years we are finally together. I visited Jamaica 15 times. We met when we were young thats why we waited a long time. He was 15 and I was 19. We met through a college exchange program. I taught his high school band. I would go down with school twice a year for four years and then came down by myself 7 more times.

Met Jan 1998, vows on 2006, Jay Jay born 2008, baby 2 - 2011

Look at time line for visa information

My fiance and I met online last year. We had been chatting/talking for almost 3 months when I went to meet him. He proposed to me when I was there the first time. We filed our I29F in January of this year and I went back to see him in March. We were approved on August 14. Now we wait for the visa.

(2 trips and 3 months before engagement.)
