Hm, there's Shrillary looking all attractive again.
must be a shortage of lipstick then after they got done with that pig
You know I ain't no Shrillary fan but if it came down to her and a guy that advocates pushing abortions back into dark back alleys and who will support this nonsensical gay marriage ban - in other words a guy that wants to rule from his gut rather than his brains, she suddenly becomes the lesser of two evils.
As I just told Dev, overturning Roe V Wade isn't making abortion illegal it just gives the states the right to choose. After all, isn't that the point of our representitive democracy? The individual states having the power? Seems perfectly logical to me to let each state decide rather than the federal government dictating to everyone.

It'll make abortion illegal in enough states and thus push abortions back into dark back alleys in enough places to take a second and consider whether it would be a good idea. What Thompson is doing on those two fronts is pandering to the "morally superior" crowd without engaging his brains. We have a guy like that right now and I, for one, am ready for less gut and more brain.

If the end result is a lot of states making it illegal then what does that tell you? That the people don't want abortion. I doubt that that would happen though. There are plenty of states that have a population that would allow it. I don't understand why some people are afraid of the will of the people. Maybe because they know that they are really in the minority? Mind you I am not giving my stance on abortion, only that I favor states rights.

I don't have a problem with state's rights until it gets mostly desperate people hurt and killed.

Let me ask you this, though: You are complaining that Shrillary wants to leave gay marriage to the states but supports Roe vs. Wade and thus is against state's rights. Then what is Thompson's nonsense on a federal gay marriage ban all about? Isn't Thompson just as inconsistent as Shrillary, then? How do you support one guy with the very same inconsistency that you point out as a major flaw of another candidate?

He is advocating a constitutional ban on gay marriage. That by definition is something 2/3'rds of the states must ratify. It's states rights totally. There is nothing inconsistent there at all.

Let me ask you a question. Without getting into a debate about abortion, how do you feel about late term or "partial birth" abortions? You know, where you have a 7,8 or 9th month baby that is without a doubt a viable baby, the doctor delivers the body but not the head and then sucks the brains out to collapse the skull. Do you think that should be allowed always, never or only in the case of saving the mother? Hillary voted against a bill outlawing this procedure even though it had a provision to allow it to save the mothers life. Don't you think that is taking a womans "rights" a little to far? It sounds like Hillary is pandering to the extreme left there. She got a 100% rating from NARAL on her voting record.

Well, that settles it for me. Where is my checkbook? I am now a Thompson supporter!

Guess we now know your abortion stance, don't we?

No you don't. I still haven't said. I hate to tell you this but reversing Roe V Wade does not make abortion illegal, it only would give the states the right to choose if they allow it. Now I am confused. I thought Hillary was for states rights. I guess as usual her position depends on what special interest group she is talking to.

We are talking about Thompson being a hypocrite, not Hillary..........

Whoa! I can't believe that you wrote that...

By permitting this to become a state driven resolution, it will create further turmoil between the citizens of this great nation. This issue is beyond the privilege of sovereignty granted to the individual states. It's a national issue that should be held firm by the Supreme Court. We've seen throughout history what happens when states are given the privilege to decide their fates on issues or topics of such magnitude. Turmoil! This to me is a no brainier... but unfortunately we have mentally challenged folks like Mr. Thompson. Go figure!

As always, cheers!!!

Do you realize how dumb that sounds? So now we have issues that only women can decide. Whats next, only veterans can make decisions about the military? Only men can make decisions that effect men? Jeez, you do have your head screwed on crooked.

Sometimes I can't figure out when you serious and joking. But just in case your serious here goes. There is nothing that is beyond the sovereignty granted to the states. Even an emotionally charged one like abortion. If we can't deal with it on a state by state basis then it's our own fault but that does not give 9 people in black robes the right to tell 300 million people what to do. It should be decided by the people.

Gary...

What do you think the Supreme Court has been doing all this time?

If the Supreme Court does not rule within the context/confines of the law and somewhat in line with the will of the people, our voices will be heard. That's why we have a president, senators, and representatives. Our society is a tad more complex than the forefathers of this great nation could have ever envisioned when the constitution was drafted granting sovereignty to the individual states. Remember, state laws do NOT supercede the federal laws, which in and of itself yields the notion that states have limited powers (beyond it being explicitly written in the constitution). Socially charge national issues have proven to be out of the scope of what states can handle because of the great divide it creates within the populous of our citizenry.

I wish that we would simulate the ramifications of what you and others are suggesting. It's a horrendously bad that would send this country into a tailspin. I'm very glad that Mr. Thompson has no shot in hell at being the president. Who knows what other loony ideas he’ll try to implement.

Cheers!!!

i'll agree with that. i don't think a discussion on abortion should include men and that topic should be resolved only by women.

Wow! You are off the deep end! A true militant feminist!! To be honest with you abortion is at the bottom of my list of important issues. I really don't care what you do with your body. But I will "go there" any time I like and you can't stop me. It's not your decision, it's not the Supreme Courts decision, it's the states right to pass laws for or against whether it's legal or not. If the state says it's legal then fine, I can live with that. But if the states say it's not legal the you will have to live with it. If you can't deal with that then it's your problem and not mine. For me it's a states rights issue only. Roe v Wade will be overturned at some point. The Supreme Court overstepped its bounds and just made up a "right" that does not exist in the constitution. Some day we will have a majority in the Supreme Court and then the decision for whether abortion should be legal or not will exist where it should, in the states hands. Live with it, but don't get in my face with your "it's my body" line.

Actually there's more involved than just your body and your uterus and of course you know that. If you want to say that the fetus has no rights and isn't human, just come right out and say that. Some people will agree with that, some will not.
