They need to apply for a B visa (tourist). Lead time is about 2-3 weeks. $100, and they need to go to an interview in Moscow. The approval rate for such visas is not particularly good.

There are plenty of Russians in Atlanta (or any other big city for that matter)

2005-10-19: K-1 Interview, Moscow (approved)

2007-04-11: AOS Interview (Approved)

Check your phone book in Atlanta for travel agencies and look for European Connections. They use to be in the romance tour business but still try to connect men with Russian speaking women. The president is married to a woman from Russia and I his brother married a Russian speaking lady, but I'm not sure if she's from Russia or Ukraine.

Sorry, I can't find the telephone number but I know they have a number of Russian speaking people on their staff.

Not necessarily. Some folks are exempt from interviews. Those who apply in Moscow who have had a visa to the US issued in the last year and are reapplying for the same visa. Those under 14 and over 80.

And more importantly those living under the jurisdiction of the other US consulates can choose to go their respective consulates rather than the embassy in Moscow.

I've been good. Got back from our free trip to Israel two days ago. Jumped right back into the thick of things: school and work. The trip was exhausting. We saw more than things than locals could see in three years. But the group setting was fun.

Good luck in trying to get your guests here. It's a difficult process. It's possible, but I've yet to hear someone on this forum say "we had a whole list of invited guests from Russia and they all made it here with no problems." The more common post is "we couldn't get a visa for her mom, sisters and best friend, so we decided to have a small ceremony here then one in Russia when we go back next year." However, your situation may be different. It depends entirely on the status of those you invite.

I'd like to second that. Welcome back Satellite. You are our default "legal expert," among other things, here in the Russia forum, so with you not chiming in, there was a "wait for Satellite's input" vibe floating through here and it sucked! I'd like to see a thread about the Israel trip if you have time. Very interesting place, to say the least.

Israel? That's very interesting. The place is amazing both from historic and religious point of view, depends on what you believe more! Tell us the details if you have time for it!

I would be a little surprised if European Connectons or GoToRussia can help you much. The Stekels, (European Connections) have a 20 million dollar family business and the most they can do is refer you to an immigration attorney. I know Kyle Stekel moderatly. GoToRussia is a great company for visas and travel help but that too is out of their field of expertise.

It all boils down to you either forget it or they pay the hundred bucks each and take their chances. If they don't have really strong ties to Russia it is probably not worth the gamble.

Darn, you know that would be a pretty good business. The visa's I mean. They just sit there, collect $ 100 ask a few questions and say no. Most businesses have to provide something for the fees they collect.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.

Consider the embassy as an amusement park, they charge $100 for admission.
