Hi all. .. Im stressing a bit and just want to put some of my worries here ... Im sure you all know what it is like.. and it feels better writing it down.. and knowing you have people that read and are genuinely concerned.. so Before I get started .. Thanks . and thanks for the shoulders to lean on and vent and worry with..

A little background to my daughter.. my 14 yr old daughter played on a Volleyball club team. She is a avid player has played in this club for three years.. fantastic coach good future opportunities. etc..

Her club coach is also the high school varsity coach for the HS Volleyball team. which many of the club players are good enough to make it on the Varsity team right from Frosh status.. anyhow.. this is the first team (entering frosh) that has played the three years consecutive with this coach..

Well back March 4th at a big tournament.. she injured her knee.. Her team position is Digger.. meaning she is in front row. and dives for the ball... etc.. well this time she really did it.. landing full force on her knee.. iced it and such thought all was ok.. she played on it rest of the tournament. (tournaments last from 7am - 6pm) ended up taking her into doctors.. x-ray showed no break. just possibly sprain .. was put in immobilizer splint.. said to just be in that for 3 days rest the leg.. Questioned about upcoming tournament following weekend. told she'd be fine just use brace and she'd be good.. .. sooo Next weekend tournament.. she attempted to play.. was on med's (vicodon) into the 3rd set of 8 games.. and couldn't handle it any longer . standing there in tears... after getting off court.. untapping knee unbracing it etc.. the knee ballooned up.. swelling and in pain to point of tears which is unheard of from this girl.. so we once again packed it in ice.. carried her to the car.. and off to emergency room.

after referral to Orthopedic.. could only see assistant grrr. he stated it possibly was sprain .. rest it etcand said if still in pain after 30 days they will do mri.. augh .. ended up needing MRI.. .. this went on for two weeks when i demanded to see the Big guy since knee was still swollen.. . finally got to this guy.. at this point it was 8 weeks after initial injury .. so she was 8 weeks in immobilizer splint.. straight leg from thigh to ankle. Still swollen and unable to bear weight on it .. so we got the MRI.. MRI showed a partial incomplete fracture of the patella... .. Orthopedic said long enough in brace.. took her off that.. sent her to Physical therapy... after 14 weeks of that.. Physical therapist concerned that she was not improving and to the point of pt causing more pain.. sent back to Ortho again...

this time he agreed.. Time for Arthroscopic.. she could possibly have some tissue that is stuck in the joint space.. or a tear which was not picked up on mri... ..

sooo Wednesday ..

My 14 1/2 yr old daughter. is going in for Arthroscopic surgery.. for plical removal along with a lateral release... but he is originally thought she had a dislocation .. and was thinking of going in doing a tibal tubucule ostectomy... which is big time knee surgery... augh.. lets pray that he can get it all done with Arthroscopic surgery..

Ill keep you'all posted on the status kkk..

thanks..

My daughter was a flyer in her varsity cheerleader squad. She landed wrong on her leg and tore her ACL. She had to have surgury and it took about a year and a half to heal completly. The main thing after surgury is to let it heal completly even if she thinks she is ready to play as my daughter wanted too do but we decided to wait until the doc decided it was OK.

Good luck. She should be fine
